We are a dedicated memory care community that accommodates the varying stages of dementia and Alzheimer’s. Our Colonial-style campus is made up of four neighborhoods and each neighborhood has twelve residents, or neighbors. This enables a familial environment, where staff can really get to know residents’ needs and preferences.
While we do specialize in memory care, we also provide ambulatory care, diabetic care, incontinence care, and medication management services. Additionally, a network of skilled doctors, nurses, and therapists are available at your request and need and are always eager to help. All of our on-site skilled nurses are trained specifically in memory care.
Enjoy three chef-inspired meals per day in our restaurant-style dining room. We are happy to provide meals to visiting guests and accommodate various resident dietary restrictions.
A large part of our care plan for those with memory decline is the upkeep of...

I would tell people to not put your loved one there. I feel like they should have been more clear about their arrangement. The first floor was not to as advanced with memory care issues. The second level had those residents that are more effected with memory care issues. My loved one's room was very nice, and they cleaned it regularly. There were some staff that were very friendly. Then some staff that were standoffish, and they didn't give direct answers. My loved one had an experience with a resident, and the staff made excuses. They also had residents walk into their room at night, and it scared them. They didn't do an interview with my loved one to determine how my loved one was. They only went off the doctor's directions from medical records. The nurses and director would change often. The community didn't have a social director for a couple of months while my loved one was there. It could be totally better now, since my loved one is no longer there. The community is beautiful. It wasn't a good fit for my loved one.

We were very satisfied with them and they did a great job. The community itself was always very clean and it always smelled fresh. The staff was always very friendly as well. The care they provided went over and above to ensure my husband was engaged and taken care of. Compared to the other communities we looked at, the care and quality at Carrington Cottage At Botetourt were much higher so we do think it was worth the somewhat elevated price.

No memory care given at this place. All about the money. Will move your family member in even if they don’t qualify for assisted living. Lots and lots of falls and surgery due to lack of attention from aids and day nurses.

Proper health department guidelines not followed for patients with C Diff. My dad has C Diff and has continued to get it in this facility. He has not been put in a private isolated room. Nurses are not waring gloves and gowns when caring for him. So, it can be transmitted to other patients. A member of the staff had it as well. This is the thrid time this year.

This place is the worst for residents !! NO NURSE ON PAYROLL . It is ran by CNA and RMA. The food is like prison food. No selection, no variety. They have the same bland meals every other day. If the staff wouldnt eat it then your family member shouldn't either. They don't have an activity room or any other rooms designed for memory care. This place is under staffed and overworked, and they don't even receive a break for lunch , even during 16 hour shifts. The administrator is terrible and rude towards our family. Also the residents do go on public outings. There has been 9 admistrators and 8 directors of nursing since it opened in 2017. They need alot of work in this building and in the corporation of carrington.

Horrible place to bring your loved ones. Administrator has told residents numerous times she didn’t have time for them. She is very rude and disrespectful to family especially employees. Save your time and money because you have to pay for everything except toilet paper, paper towels, laundry, meals is the only thing they provide for the thousands you spend. Highly unreccomended. They paint a pretty picture but lack the care they instruct employees to act like they are giving during tours.

Based on my tour...The staff is very nice and knowledgeable, Newer facility, Small ratio of staff to residents, okay activities(music could be more diverse) Very expensive with no additional amenities/care. There was an unpleasant odor

When my sister had to be placed in memory care from assisted living the community was willing to transfer her medication where others were not. She really likes being here. She is enjoying the activities that she can do. She likes the staff very much and she is getting along with the other residents. She likes the food very much.

My dad has done so well here, They helped us find the furniture for his room as well as set it up for us so that when he moved in his room was set. The staff is so attentive of all the residents, they keep a close eye on them as individuals, they make sure their well being comes first. Dad is very active in all the activities and they have outside activities and concerts he likes being a part of too. Dad is starting to become very social, he enjoys the food and has started to gain some weight which is great. I could not have found a more perfect place for my dad.

I like the care here for my father. The staff keeps me informed on his progress. The community is clean and I like knowing that I can tell others that my father is in a great place with great care. The meals are very appealing. They do have several activities to enjoy. I highly recommend this community for the value of care for a loved one.
