I found the staff to be very helpful when needed. The one item that I had an issue with, was my Uncle was placed in the Memory Care Unit as he failed their test by one question. I spoke to the Administrator about this and redoing the test. Of which they didn't persue. The longer he was in there the more obvious it became he was 100% misplaced ! Anyway, I can't remember how many months he was at the facility before he passed. He really died of a broken heart resulting in medical issues popping up. His wife (my aunt) of neatly 70 years died in [date removed]. My Uncle passed that August. I believe he would have been happier in another ward to relate to others, talk about hobbies etc. The Memory Care Unit - God love them, but they are not on the same planet. The facility is a good place for memory care patients. It was apparent they enjoyed it Of course they mostly just wandered around, slept etc. the facility did have sing alongs, drawing etc. my Uncle was lost if you will not having the mental stimulation he needed and the level he was at. His neighbors and friends made it a point to visit everyday.... Read more

Every single staff member is kind and compassionate. But the overall look of the place could use updating. And the worst is the food - it's awful. I would still recommend based on how caring the staff are, but the facility and food need improvement.

I was NOT happy with how I was dealt with. They would send my loved one to the hospital without letting me know. And I would get a call form the hospital, not even knowing that she was being transferred. I would ask for information from Carolina Reserve, and they would not get back to me. Finally they told me they were sending her to a behavioral place to be evaluated. I was told the behavioral place had diagnosed her with a type of dementia that Carolina Reserve does not provide care for and we needed to move her. I was not at all happy with how we were treated.
This community just seemed like a lot of people outside and seemed to be just alone with no stimulation.
I think you need to peek in at different times. When we visited, it looked like a beautiful place, with nobody in wheelchairs sitting around. But there are actually a lot of low functioning people there, not a lot of people you can have conversations with. So I don't think I would recommend for people who are higher functioning because they're not going to have the stimulation from other residents. But I think the staff tried to be very helpful during a stressful time and situation. The facility looked clean. The rooms are little outdated, especially the bathrooms, which are small. The sinks were pedestals, so there wasn't much counter space. But they did have stand-up showers with benches.

I would highly recommend them for my loved one. The community does a great job with the residents. The communication with the staff is great and are responsive. All the residents are vaccinated now. They are starting to open up things more now.

With COVID they are a little short staffed, however the folks that work there are really good, and they do everything that they can. At first they were really strong with the activities, but at one point there were no activities. The rooms are a little dark and depressing.

The care and attention to detail is what sets this company apart. They truly strive to make the client and their family happy; which is extremely difficult in this time. Any questions I have are promptly answered and I have never had a problem regarding any issue!

Placing our mother into an assisted living resident was one of the most difficult decisions our father and his family has ever had to make and this was done in the middle of the pandemic. The staff at Carolina Reserve have been so helpful, and it has been comforting knowing that they think of our mom as part of their family, not just some elderly lady that lives in the residence. The staff are all true professionals and are supportive of the abilities that mom still has, encouraging her do as much as she is capable of, in order to keep her physical and mental skills active and in use while assuring that at all times she is safe and does not become overwhelmed. Mom walks daily and she enjoys interacting with the staff who have encouraged her to ask us for personal photos, artwork, special nightgowns and clothes that makes her feel in control of her day and her bedroom. Our mom is treated with respect and kindness and she refers to the Carolina Reserve at Hendersonville as her "New Home." There are no words to thank everyone at the residence. I know she is cared for and she is truly in her own home. While this make have been a difficult decision, it was the right decision in our situation and we are most grateful for what they have done and are doing for our family today and everyday. Thank you.

They are far better than the last community we were at. The quality of care here is really good. The building is clean with no odors. The food quality is good. During the pandemic, the staff have been really on top of things with communication, letting families of any changes, and offering facetime visits. The staff are friendly and caring with a mixture of personalities among the staff.

My dad’s time at Carolina Reserve was really great. The staff took great care of my dad. I was so glad we found Carolina Reserve when we did. My dad has been three different place and I looked a lot too so I have seen a lot of communities in the area. Carolina Reserve is a smaller community and they give the residents a lot of one on one attention. They treat the residents like family. To my knowledge they have had no cases of the virus which says a lot about their protocols and that made me happy and feel secure.

My family member is in the memory care unit at Carolina Reserve. The staff is friendly, but it is easy to get "jaded" working with this population and some of the staff seem annoyed at times. The CNA's who dispense medications have a "round the clock" duty and are glued to their computer screens and administering medications; it would be lovely to have more staff. The CNA's do an excellent job. The best part of Carolina Reserve are the activity director(s) who are very friendly and engaging. I would love it if they had more of a variety of activities and MUSIC at all times in the lobby! Music changes depression in dementia and Alzheimer's patients. Overall, my family member's experience has been good...the number one complaint from him/her is boredom.

Go anywhere but here. Period. My dad was there for several months. needed more care after some time... they were fast to charge us more, but never ever gave more care, except for the immediate hour after we complained or pointed out he was not getting it. They would do something and the next day, it disappeared. Dad died now... and 2 weeks later, the death certificate has not advanced from them. Carolina management is incompetent, they do not give near the quality or level of care they promise or charge for. Not sure if they don't care or if they are understaffed or it is just policy. Services that were promised going had to be fought for once in. They should be stripped of their rating and reevaluated for what they really are. I know I sound bitter. I am not. I am 100% realistic on what to except and 100% honest on what was delivered. And the food... it is awful. Bojangles would be considered gourmet. But that is minor in comparison to all else. There must be better solutions out there for the aging.

When Raven solutions bought spring arbor in march 2017, they made a lot of promises. They did get some new furniture in both assisted living and the cottage. However they put back the old stain chairs in cottage and it smells like urine in the unit most of time now. Staff has been reduced on both sides even though full. Staff is worn out and stressed. They were promised raises this year but now they are told not til next spring. The cottage is at or past full capacity and there is not enough seating for residents in living room. They did get electronic devices for residents and call buttons on cottage side in bathrooms. Staff are suppose to activate buttons to show they are checking rooms. That worked for the first few weeks but not so much now. Most staff leave their cell phone units to monitor residents on tables or not in sight. The best of the facility are the hard working staff, activity personnel and maintenance.
