After observing Cardinal Village staff caring for my aunt over the last 18 months, my entire family was impressed by these remarkably patient, kind, and skilled caretakers. From the friendly kitchen to the professional medical and hands-on nursing and support staff, to the administrative leaders, these dedicated, cheerful people provided what was needed when needed. The staff became friends both to my aunt and our family. My aunt called Cardinal Village her home. We visited many other facilities and Cardinal Village is distinguished by its exceptional staff, as well as competitive pricing. As unique as it is rare, every once in a while people do their absolute best, day in and day out, often under difficult circumstances. That describes the staff at Cardinal Village. I thank them personally and I hope Cardinal Village has room for me when I'm ready.... Read more

I've heard for many years, that Cardinal Village Assisted Living was one of the best places in the area for people who can no longer live on their own. My mom recently moved in, and my siblings and I have been overjoyed with our mom's care. The nurses are terrific. They listen to your concerns and act quickly. They have a wellness center and physical therapy department. My mom has been living alone for the last 4 years. Now, she is in a place where she is looked after and interacts with people daily. My mom lives in a 1 bedroom apartment with a screened in porch. We absolutely love it for our mom.

My father, husband and I met with [Name Removed]to discuss my dad’s admission to Cardinal Village. We were so happy with [Name Removed]and the admissions process. He moved into a beautiful apartment in the assisted living side. The staff couldn’t have been nicer and all his needs were met. We ate dinner with him in the dining room and was thrilled with the selections for meals. The one I chose was delicious. The dining room is well appointed with delicious choices. I can’t say enough for my father’s stay at Cardinal. It is a wonderful place to stay with caring and professional employees. The cookies aren’t bad either!

Generally it was a good experience. There were times I thought some of the policies were too rigid when he was to return from various rehabs but I realize that those limitations are set by type of facility. The floor staff and nurses that took care of my Dad were great. Very caring. The activity coordinators seemed like super people. The price is very onerous but I understand that is the market.

Response from Cardinal Village
July 2, 2024Thank you for sharing your review of Cardinal Village! We strive to meet all expectations of residents and their families. Knowing that "generally it was a good experience" certainly sounds positive. As far as some of the policies seeming too rigid when returning from a rehabilitation stay - I just wanted to share that we hold the safety of our residents in highest regard and follow state guidelines as well as state mandates governing Assisted Living facilities. While we can certainly understand the frustration for our residents and their families we must ensure that each re-admission back to assisted living is safe and not one detail is missed. There are times when the proper prescriptions aren't ordered, or the recommended equipment hasn't been ordered/delivered - if either one of these scenarios were true for any of our residents we would of course pause and require the discharging facility to comply - a delay could be perceived as an annoyance but in the end our commitment remains to do our very best to keep our residents safe and well cared for. Thank you for commenting about our nurses - they really are terrific and many of them have been taking care of our residents for 15 to 30 years - now that is a "wow factor"!! We are also very proud of our activities team - they work very hard to make sure each of our 200+ residents are living their best life while here at Cardinal Village - our Director Kathy strives to exceed expectations and truly supports each resident individually - she is terrific and as you mentioned leads a team of "super people"! Thanks again for choosing Cardinal Village and for sharing your kind thoughts!
My Mom is a resident on the independent living side of this facility and has not been able to receive incoming calls on her house phone since last July. She has trouble hearing her cell phone and at times it is difficult to reach her. Complaining has done nothing to alleviate the situation, always told corporate is holding it up. My Mom is very old and I worry for her safety and find it an atrocity that no one seems to understand the importance of a phone or care enough to fix this issue!!!

We are very aware of the problem and have been working diligently with our management team to set a date for work to begin. I am happy to share that construction is starting on phone lines June 18th. Response from Cardinal Village
July 2, 2024Thank you so much for taking the time to share your review of Cardinal Village - we really do appreciate it. We specifically appreciate your compliment regarding our residents and we completely agree - Cardinal Village truly is a "Great community of Residents"
I must say from the first phone call [name removed] was awesome. After spending two full days on the phone call facilities, Cardinal Village was the most warm and welcoming. Dad has his own apartment, which we were able to make his home away from home. It was [name removed] who suggested a hospice evaluation to see exactly what dad's needs would be. It's only been a short time that dad has been at Cardinal Village, but I feel in my heart that it was the best decision my family and I could have made in such a short amount of time. When the rehab facility tells you that dad is being discharged in two days and he can longer live on his own without 24 hour assistance, Cardinal came to our aid. The aids and nurses are wonderful and take care of dad just like he is their "pop" too.

heard about Cardinal village from other medical personnel, as well as people who have family there. I was impressed with how highly they spoke of this place. Additionally, and even more so when I talk to the residenythey were all happy and complementary. That’says alot. We just feel very comfortable and the stress level is so much better since we’ve had my father and my mother-in-law in two different areas of Cardinal. It is truly not the fanciest around, but it’s homey and people there care for the residents. This gives us as a family great peace of mind.

My mom was welcomed into the Cardinal Village community the first time she walked in for her initial tour. We were provided with the information that helped us make an informed decision. She loves her apartment and enjoys the food. The residents are welcoming to the newbies and the staff members are so kind. We are very happy that we found a safe and happy place for our mom!

The overall experience has been very good so far. The cleanliness is good, the friendliness of staff as well as the care services is also very good. When it comes to the meals and dining service it seems adequate, but have not visited during meal times. There are plenty of different activities for the residents to participate in. It is pricey but there is piece of mind.

I came to Cardinal Village in Sewell, nj with a heavy heart and a sick father. That was barely a month ago. Today, I am smiling and Dad is thriving. The staff from all levels of employment there were more supportive than I imagined. Thank you all

Response from Cardinal Village
October 6, 2023Thank you Paula for your kind review - we are so grateful that you shared your experience and the care that our team is providing for your dad. I am thrilled to hear that he is thriving - that is of course a wonderful situation to be in as I crave the same for my loved ones. Our goal at Cardinal Village is that every resident can report they are happy and thriving.
I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. After my loved one moved into the community, my loved one has settled in nicely and is able to move around on their own. There is a good activities calendar for the residents to participate in. The staff are quick to respond to requests from the family or residents.

A Place for Mom has scored Cardinal Village 9.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
