1. Nursing staff : mostly external staff and revolving door of turn over. Many nurses making mistakes with meds and bad attitudes. Nurses who report direct to Capstone were good and experienced. 2. The facility had poor communication from administrators about problems and they seemed not to care about customer satisfaction to keep people in the facility long term once they have your $[removed]k community fee don't plan to get anything back even if you are unsatisfied. 3. Food choices were minimal and not great especially for paying [removed]k into in memory care and [removed]k+ month in ALF. 4. Laundry service was a mess and people's clothes were frequently lost and mixed up with others. 5. Very disappointed in the activities advertised vs activities available to residents. Very limited outings and activities for my mother were provided. Also no welcome of someone to show her around and get her involved into any activities and meet people as new resident.

They were great with my husband. My only complaint was when a fill in director took over while the regular director was on a continuing education leave. She had my husband sent to psychiatric hospital for evaluation n my husband died about two nights a half weeks later. I filed a complaint with the state. He went into the psychiatric hospital a happy man and came out a vegetable. They cost me my husband. The staff were absolutely great with my husband n everyone called him Papa. The food was always great n I noticed the residents that had difficulty feeding themselves were always assisted n not rushed. It always felt like a family atmosphere. They provided activities for the residents n were always encouraging. My husband passed in [date removed] and I haven't been back since, too painful. I would recommend it to anyone.

The friendliness of the staff gets a 5+, and the care services as well as the value for cost is a 3 (neutral). Staff and care was great- [name removed] was her favorite. I would recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had so far.

I would tell my friend that they take good care of your loved one. The food is really good. They give my husband two meals if he is still hungry which happens often. It is expensive but all of the memory care place are.

Our family has been pleased with our moms care. We do feel like the food service could improve. Food menu items are brought a few at a time upon request, rather than serving everything at once. The staff is friendly and my mother is happy.

Response from Capstone Senior Living at Station Camp
August 16, 2024Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, Debby. We appreciate your kind words about your mom's care and will definitely take your comments about the food service into consideration. Your input is valuable to us as we strive to improve the overall experience for our residents and their families.
Capstone at SC memory care is NOT a safe place for your loved one with dementia. It has had 3 to 4 exec directors which led to an insecure atmosphere.Enduring the problems there for 19 months was challenging for my husband and me.Problems included inconsistent heat and air, quality of food, and rapid caregiver turnover. They were often shorthanded with agency caregivers and nurses brought in that struggled with their responsibilities including handling medication properly. As my husband’s dementia worsened, he became sometimes combative. The director and nurses at Capstone failed to consult with the house doctor about this. He was on hospice but still sent to Trustpoint psych hospital without my knowledge. When he returned to Capstone, he was unresponsive, lost 10 lbs, had UTI, and bed sores. He died 9 days later. The MC director was unprofessional, rude and showed no compassion. There were a few outstanding caregivers that truly cared & showed God's love to everyone. However, stay away!

I visited Capstone Station Camp as a Healthcare Professional a few weeks ago and I observed the community to be clean, the residents looked well cared for, and the staff seem caring. While in Memory Care, the staff had the residents engaged with a cooking show live. They loved it! I had never seen anything like that in a Memory Care. The rooms are very nice. I recommend this community.

I feel like these places have super entry sales jobs. They overpromise and under-deliver. If your loved one is going into memory care, they want ambulatory people. The public areas very nice, but cleaning the individual rooms was always something you had to ask for. The food started out really good but then deteriorated. I had to bring him food a lot of times, what they served was very poor quality. There were a handful of caregivers and nurses that were good, but the overall care was not good. They kicked us out because he got a bedsore under their care. I was never able to relax and feel secure with him here. The nighttime is the scariest time, I never knew if he was getting taken care of. It was just a horrible experience and I would not recommend them to others looking.

I really do like the Capstone Senior Living community and if I ever needed their services again I would go back. However they need to improve and badly improve on their meals and dining service - the meals themselves were good and the wait staff was always super friendly but they were understaffed so the meals most of the time were not served hot or even warm. Sometimes there would be 1 wait staff worker to 40-50 residents.

Our mother really likes the people that work there, they are all very nice and we visit all the time. The staff know everyone by their name, they are not only kind and considerate to the residents but to the visiting families as well. The food itself when we first moved our loved one in was their hype thing - they talked about how great their new chef is and how everything is homemade, but that is not the case. The food is not appealing to that particular age group - what is being served is not homemade and sometimes when it gets to the residents it is cold. We think it would be beneficial if the chef sat down with the residents and listened to the things they like and don't like since they are the ones eating the meals.

My husband's care was exceptional. I could not have asked for anything better. The nurses, the techs - they all called him "Papa" and were just amazing. A facility can have all the bells and whistles, but if the staff isn't there for you, none of that makes any difference. It was the staff that truly made Capstone.

The care team that was in charge of my friend's care was excellent. It felt like I was leaving my friend at a relative's house. The food was adequate for substance; however, it lacked taste. There were always activities going on when I would visit my friend. There is a beauty salon a on site along with a gardening area. There is an onsite physical therapy room. It truly feels like a home away from home here. The rooms are bright and spacious. There is a kitchenette in the apartment as well. There are some apartments that have full kitchens depending on the size of the apartment you want.

Our family had an in person tour and the experience was great with was a toss-up between this community and other communities and the reason we went with the other one is just because they had a little more activities. However still a great tour.
