It’s difficult choosing a community for your parents, at least we had a hard time finding one for our mom, but once we began interacting with the staff here, we knew our search was over. They are caring, considerate and genuine individuals that truly seem to have a passion for what they do. The sales manager and director of nursing work in tandem to make sure all questions are answered and as mom got comfortable, continued a great open line of communication answering all of my questions-and there were many as I live out of state. The “community” as they call is small but mighty, which makes this the perfect fit. We couldn’t be happier with the care mom receives everyday and the friendly hellos as the staff walk through the halls and dining room.

Smaller than [removed], but seemed warm and inviting. Many activites for memory care residents. Rooms small, but large enough. Activity room had computer generated activities and many selections. A staffer needs to work the PC for sure. I would consider it for my loved one

The staff is friendly and helpful. There have been many changes for the better in the building. My loved one enjoys her time with her friends and the nurses she says are great. The Executive Director, Wellness Director and Sales were amazing at move in and were so helpful getting everything organized and ready for move in. Maintenance is "johnny on the spot" to fix any issue big or small. I was impressed with the way my questions were answered timely and the way they accommodated me. I Would highly recommend them as they REALLY care about you!!

Brookdale Wekiwa Springs offers that quaint family feel. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the front desk with a big welcome and a smile. Throughout our visit, we were greeted by many of the employees, easily identifiable with name badges and a few residents also wearing name badges-we found out they have a great group of residents that are Ambassadors of the community-enough said for me! If your residents are willing to tell complete strangers how great your place is, I’m sold! There was a chef from the kitchen sitting and putting together a puzzle with a few residents in the common space, and another staff member sharing a cup of coffee and conversations with a small group of residents at another table. Everyone seemed very happy and we had the feeling we walked into someone’s home. Schedules were posted throughout the building which seemed to provide great reminders for residents, but there didn’t seem to be a lot of variety offered. The building is older, but well maintained. They have a great courtyard space (although it could use some TLC) with a great sitting area by the lake. We’re certain our Mom will enjoy afternoons reading a book in the serene setting.

It’s never easy making a decision about what assisted living to move your mom especially when it was not in the plan. The management at Wekiwa Springs were a tremendous help in helping me feel comfortable with my decision. They also provided information about veteran benefits for my mom which helped offset the expensive cost of assisted living. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great community.

Taking a tour of the facility was very helpful. You get to see the rooms and the common areas and see the people that live and work there. It is a nice facility.

We were not happy with the care from this community. We were informed that they could help her with her personal needs. The staff was not available when needed and it took a long time for the staff to respond. We feel like that they were under staffed. The staff did not take her to the dining area for meals with the other residents. They had activities that were not offered to her. We could not recommend this community to other families.

I would not let anyone go there, if my father was still there he would be dead. I would not recommend them. My other relative was there before and they were being paid to dress her and they did not, so she tried to dress herself and she fell and hit her head. I could go on and on about all of the bad things. When they were in independent living it was fine, but the assisted living was terrible. When my father set off the emergency alarm in his room they did not come for 20 minutes. He had to bandage himself because there was no one at the nurse's station. They had German roaches.

I have no complaints about the tour I had taken of this community for my mother. The staff where on time to our appointment and made sure to give lots of great information as well as answer any questions that we had for them. They had a nice floor plan with lots of great amenities available for all of the residents. It was just not the right fit in the end decision in the end choice.

Follow up was terrific from A Place for Mom to make sure we were finding the right people to talk to. They connected us with Brookdale in Apopka and we just moved our dad in to this senior living center.

My friend is doing since her move to this community. I know she is safe and in a good place. The staff is lovely, and they are good at what they do. They do a very good job of keeping the community neat and tidy. She is trying some of the activities offered. The meals are nice. She is starting to adjust, and I would recommend this community.

So far they are very friendly and very helpful. They are sometimes difficult to get a hold of on the phone. The inside of the facility is clean. The friendliness is excellent. Everyone has been kind and welcoming. The activities are excellent as well. So far everything has been going well. We are really pleased with the Emeritus at Wekiwa Springs. It's a really nice and friendly community. I would recommend this place.

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Wekiwa Springs 6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
