The staff seem to come and go but the ones we've gotten to know are very friendly and upbeat and seem to genuinely care about the residents.

The Brookdale Northville was clean. The staff was usually friendly but not always. Would say that they would do something but then not do it. The staff was to assist [name removed] with his feeding but would only show up some of the times. He didn't eat the food, he was tube fed, which the staff was very bad about giving him so he ended up doing it himself. Some activities were very nice like bingo and when the drinks were served with entertainment. It was mostly a good value.

Response from Brookdale Northville
September 24, 2024We take your comments seriously and are committed to providing quality care and services to our residents and their families. Our management team has reviewed these concerns and we wish to assure you the safety and well-being of our residents is our top priority.
The management staff is very friendly and communicates with the family. Activities are a priority and are thoughtfully planned and well done. The dining arrangement is very different. No central café. Food is served in one of several dining areas on different floors. This can be confusing to new residents. Staff needs to help with integration of this approach. Food is decent. They serve homemade soup every dinner as an appetizer. Care (so far) is inconsistent and below expectation when compared with other Assisted Living facilities. We had to hire a Personal Care person to augment the provided care. The community doesn't provide Memory Care and therefore residents with dementia do not receive the level of care (prompting, redirection, wandering assistance) that they would get at a memory care facility. Several things (pendant capability, specific care fees, pendant response time, care provided, etc) were over stated by the Sales team in comparison to what is actually delivered. Housekeeping and laundry are average in terms of dependability, consistency, quality. The move in transition was smooth. They were helpful in allowing items to be moved ahead of the official occupancy date. Staff was aware of the new residents and made efforts to integrate them. Two weeks after move in, management to meet with the family to cover issues, gaps, expectations.

The staff is very friendly, but they are understaffed as are most of these places. There are lots of activities for the residents: Friday happy hour, sundaes on Monday, bingo, movies, Saturday field trips. The food is probably the best thing about this place. There is nice variety and there are alternatives if you don't like the offered. The chef often comes to chat with the diners. As far as assisted living homes go, this one of the better ones.

There have been some minor issues but we have met with the director and head of nursing - they are very interested in resolving the current problems. What we really like is the food, it is good and our family members likes living there. For other families looking for a community for their loved ones, we would recommend Brookdale Northville.

We picked this community, because the ratings were very good. They were running a discount for 25% off monthly rent. They had a very nice room available. The staff was very caring. The prescriptions were difficult to coordinate. It started with the hospital not giving Brookdale the scripts in advance, then hospice nurse, Brookdale nurse had to get approvals.

What sticks out most about Brookdale is the ratio of staff to residents is lower here than any other facility we looked at. I would absolutely recommend Brookdale Northville to other families.

Our family had an in person tour and we had a great tour experience
Brookdale Northville was very nice - we were thoroughly impressed with the facility and it was very clean. I absolutely loved the girl who took us around - she was super informative and great about answering our questions. It is a smaller facility which we liked, but it was 2 floors. We really needed something all on one level since my loved one had a hard time getting around. We would have had no issue putting him here if it were not for the floor plan.
Read MoreThe worst part is they told me what it would cost and now it costs more. Bait and switch. They're not doing what they said they were going to do as far as the care goes. And the staff are hard to get ahold of when I have questions or concerns.

Response from Brookdale Northville
June 22, 2022We take your comments seriously and are committed to providing quality care and services to our residents. We would welcome an opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have and hope you will contact our management team to further discuss.
This was an excellent experience for my loved one and family. They were very on with the care of things for my loved one and was there to take care of my loved one during an emergency situation. During my loved one's stay they were going through a transition of leadership. It was hard to get ahold of the administrator; however, they ended up calling me and everything worked out with any questions or concerns I had. Bathing assistance, assistance to dining rooms, reminders for activities, and more are some of the care the community is able to provide for the residents. They were able to stay with my loved one until family and EMS arrived.

I would advise others to be careful of your loved ones belongings. things were stolen/ended up missing from my loved one. her medication was not adequately given out and not administered when they needed to be. they also have a high turnover right now. we made the decision to pull my loved one out because overall she was not being cared for the way we were told she would. I'm unsure what happened, all I know is that we had such high hopes and ended up being extremely disappointed. I can acknowledge that my loved one can be difficult to deal with and I also understand that the job itself can be hard. I give credit to the staff and nurses who had to work with her; but regardless there were things that happened that were completely unacceptable.

Response from Brookdale Northville
March 23, 2022We are sorry to hear we did not meet your expectations and we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. The health and well-being of our residents is our top priority and we have shared your concerns with our management team for review.
we toured Brookdale Northville and upon first impression it was great. we chose another community that peaked our interest a little more.
WE virtually toured Brookdale Northville and the facility looked amazing. We did not choose them because they were not able to handle the type of care my mom was needing, she needed memory care.
This is the best value in the area. The staff are very good to work with. The quality of the food for the residents could be improved on. Some of the activities available are: local trips, bingo, Wii bowling, trivia and more for the residents to choose from.

Brookdale Northville gave us a great tour. It was a very nice facility but it was more expensive and they do not offer memory care services here which is what we were going to need.
