Brookdale is supposed to be an independent living center, I am totally independent but it now has become an assisted living place. Only about 3% are independent residents. The activities get a 5+. If you are in need of an assisted living place, yes I would recommend it to other families.

Response from Brookdale North Raleigh
June 7, 2024Thank you for your feedback. Brookdale North Raleigh provides Independent Living services and we encourage you to speak with our management team regarding any concerns.
The staff at Brookdale North Raleigh are a happy staff, always enjoying their job. The staff makes every effort to learn your first name make you feel as comfortable and as a member of the family as they can to help them along. [Name removed], the man who owns Brookdale, started out in the kitchen many years ago. All of the staff from the cleaning to program to the front desk and the driver for the bus are so friendly. The residents included, they make sure that you enjoy being you and are feeling welcome here in the community.

Brookdale has been a wonderful experience for my mom. The staff is kind and friendly and the residents have been so welcoming. There are many activities to do each day, there is really something for everyone. There are many regularly scheduled social events throughout the week as well as lots of special events/entertainment. The food is quite good and the portions are perfect. I could go on and on but the best thing to do is see for yourself. Most of the residents, my mom included, will tell you their only regret is not moving to Brookdale sooner. I have total peace of mind about mom living in the Brookdale community.

The lead staff is very knowledgeable and caring. They have been very helpful to my mom and have reached out to me to ensure she everything she needs. Apartments are a decent size and easy to locate for the residents. Full kitchen if desired.

It's very nicely decorated and feels like a home. The food is hit or miss. Sometimes very good and others not! Very friendly resident community. Was affordable at the time.

Since it is independent living the quality of care services do not apply. The breakfast is not diabetic friendly. I am not the only resident who cooks our own breakfast. I am on a A gluten free diet due to food allergies. Very few choices if any. Get very tired of eating the same thing all the time since the variety would make me ill. I do not know much about the activities. I have been hospitalized right before I came and again since I have been here and on limited activity so I have not been able to take advantage yet. There HBU are many activities I want to join. Value for cost. Everything is so expensive these days. Everyone knows I am unhappy with the food. Other than that I love it hear. Hope to stay for a long time and definitely would recommend it

If you're worried about whether it could be a good fit, they're more than willing to work with you. They were very nice and usually responded pretty quick. The apartment sizes here are pretty nice! Even the smallest size was okay, with a nice bathroom, and a balcony. Without a balcony, they're much larger. I thought they were good. I would highly recommend Brookdale North Raleigh to others.

It's been a good experience overall. The staff is friendly & the place is nice and clean. They could improve in maintenance (it takes them forever to fix things & most of the maintenance staff are very inexperienced). Also they could improve the food. The food is just ok

Brookdale North Raleigh was a great experience and continues to be. My mother loves it and is thriving since moving there. She loves the water aerobics and the other classes, like movercise and art. And she likes that she can always eat a meal with people.

The tour was informative. It was good. They're property seems newer and more upscale. However, at the time there were no available apartments on the lower floor.
The price they offered was the main attraction for us. If they didn't have a special at the time we were looking, we could not have chosen them. The Facility is very bright and nicely decorated. I would recommend this facility to friends and family.

Brookdale was a close second. But it did not have dishwasher or washer/dryer in the apartment, which she wanted. The 3 of us making decision for her (she was in AL) liked the decor and modern feel of [facility name removed], as well as size of facility. But Brookdale would have been more similar to where she was. She is not overly happy with how open [facility name removed] is; says it feels like a motel. Personal taste. Brookdale had residents milling around, at least at certain times we were there. And they were always friendly as well.
The staff was super nice.

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale North Raleigh 9.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score.
