Brookdale Niskayuna

The staff is helpful and mostly very accommodating and attentive. You must be involved and persistent in following up, most staff are busy and don't return calls. Visit often and be involved. In general everyone is very pleasant.

Brookdale Niskayuna is a great location with friendly and knowledgeable staff!

Staff is very helpful, weekly email about events. Place appears sturdy and safe. Owners care for the place, the staff and residents. Would recommend this facility.

This was a very good choice for my mom. The staff is always very courteous and caring. It is very clean no smells and well maintained. They have a very nice dining facilities and choices. I feel she is getting excellent care there

My mother has been at Brookdale Niskayuna a short time. The administration, clinical staff, and support staff have been responsive, kind, and top notch. My mother is proud of her apartment, the food, and the beautiful gardens. She enjoys playing bridge, her new friends, getting manicures, and occasional bus rides to town with her wheelchair. My family has been happy with the support at Brookdale Niskayuna.

My mother-in-law loved the assistant living, the staff, the facility and especially the food. The memory center not so much. She is ready and happy to leave

My mother-in-law was in a rehab because she fell broke her leg. At 90 it's was very hard for her to recover. So the family knew she had to go into a assisted living, she needed help to function each day. I called A Place for Mom to see if they could help me find a facility. Well, they were very helpful and understanding. After many calls we decided to call Brookdale in Niskayuna. [name removed] was so kind and helpful. It worked out very well, she is doing better, gets lots of help and loves her studio. We're blessed.

My mom was previously a resident at Brookdale Niskayuna and everything was great for her there. She was very comfortable and she loved it. She was very happy at Brookdale. I would recommend this facility to others.

It's a very warm place, not too big, so staff gets to know the residents, at least in my mom's case. I should point out that she's a very friendly person, so that may have helped rapport to develop quickly. Top staff are always available on email or by text. Place has a nice atmosphere. Very clean. Good food served in nice surroundings. They worked closely with me when Mom had a bout of confusion brought on by a UTI and also consulted with her primary care doc. Residents are treated respectfully. Aides and nurses were nice to mom. I would recommend the facility.

My mom is a resident at Brookdale Niskayuna and overall things have been good. My lower ratings are due to some issues with new or no staff. My mom has not participated in the activities yet, so I cannot fairly rate those.

The facility, staff, meals etc are all very good. My only complaint would be it's clear that they are a large corporation driven facility that works great if everything goes to plan, but may not be as flexible at adjusting to individual needs.

The main reason we chose Brookdale Niskayuna over others we saw was because they had services we needed, and a friend's mother lived there for awhile and said she had a good experience. I think the staff and the residents are very friendly, and seems to be a stable crew of people (i.e. less turnover than I'd expect). I would recommend this facility to others looking for assisted living care for their loved ones.

At the time it was the only one that was available. And it seemed to fit the needs for my parents. I wouldn't recommend it unless your parents are healthy and able to function on their own. It's a retirement community not an assisted living community.

I have been very pleased with my interation with the staff. They were very welcoming, and were very accomodating in getting my loved one in there. They could improve on the food. They are often short staffed, with the company that they contract with for speech therapy. It's very convenient for us, and I like the staff.

Areas they could improve on - their responsiveness to resident call for assistance, it takes them quite a awhile to answer or get to the resident that needs assistance. They could also follow through better with their care plans that are given, they are supposed to be taking our loved one every 2 hours to the restroom and that just really isn't getting done and isn't consistent.

The staff was wonderful at Brookdale, from the initial interview and discussion to the intake and up until the last day my dad was there, they were friendly and thoughtful, even through difficult situations.

I was a little bit disappointed in the way the operation of the medicine. I received the bill there are items charged to our account that my father never got. If I had been told about it they never would have been ordered. They ordered the ensure my father would never drink the Ensure. There's just too much secrecy about the meds. Three times I asked to pick up the remaining meds and I'm still waiting to get them. And now he died so I have no use for them anyway. Also in regards to the building. I had set up automatic payments get every month I was getting paper bills and past-due notices. I could not get them to take the money out of the account before finance charges were applied.

The financials can be frustrating. There are moving parts and it seems communication amongst the admin is questionable. The food right now does not seem to have variety. Most of the staff my loved one likes and the community does its job.

My loved one is very happy there, and enjoys the staff and the facility. It's difficult to review because they're limited now due to Covid. But so far they've been very responsive, are following the guidelines for Covid restriction, and they keep us up to date on things.
