Staff is very caring and professional. They always seem a bit short handed but have managed to work it out. Rate increase at one year anniversary was expected. Its called assisted living but alot of the residents have early dementia, alzhiemers, etc. Lots of wheelchairs right now. The overall atomsphere is very homelike. Nice courtyard to sit outside.

They seem to be short staffed, but are doing an excellent job. I understand staffing issues are nation wide in this type of facility. My mom is safe, comfortable, well fed, and entertained. The facility is close to me, so I visit every day.

Good: 1. the facility is very good with dementia patients as most of the residents have some dementia 2. the food is good 3. most of the aides are good with the residents and provide compassionate care 4. it's a small community so it's easier for residents with dementia to familiarize themselves with others who live and work there 5. the facility forms a square around a courtyard making it easy for dementia residents to familiarize themselves with the layout Not so good: 1. Staffing, on the weekends especially, seems inadequate for the amount of care and assistance the residents here need 2. the cost of apartment and additional services needed is quite a bit higher than similar class B facilities in the area 3. office staff are not easily accessible or helpful during busy times. Even on weekdays they are not often seen or their office door is closed. 4. residents' clothing is often misplaced after laundering.

My loved one, loves the food. They don't do a lot of the activities, but goes out more. They have more residents, and more help, which makes it a more pleasant environment.

I wish my loved one moved here. They have a specific dementia unit, and it's a nice community. Also, they have a beautiful lake.
They're understaffed, so I don't think my loved one or the other residents are getting the care that they need, including bathing, etc. When the activities girl is there, the activities are good. When she's not there, they're not good. I like pretty much everything except for the staffing. Just two people can't do all that it takes to watch people coming in and out and take care of the people who live there. It is a secure community, with no one allowed in/out without monitoring, but they're just not staffed to handle that.

Mom says the food is really good, and the cook has been there a long time. They're doing better with cleanliness. The first few weeks they didn't clean her room, but they're coming in once a week to do that now. They keep the carpets clean, and the dining room is clean. We have had problems with the laundry - they've lost about half of her clothes, so I've had to buy new ones. Most of the people are very friendly and bend over backwards to help my mom. There's a huge turnover though. The activities director is really good about getting Mom out and doing things. She does really well at her job. They have recently let go of the executive director, so there is no director currently.

The facility in particular is in need of a lot of renovational work, it is getting pretty old. My loved one was only here for about a month, but I felt like we got a big sales pitch in the beginning and once he moved in things were not as they said.

We would not recommend this community to others, they try to make one guy wear all the the hats, and he is not able to get everything done. The paper work takes way to long to get done or not done at all and sometimes they staff members are to over worked.

While my parents were at Brookdale Midwestern they absolutely loved it. They had nothing but the kindest comments about the nurses and staff. My father required 24 hour care and my step-mom required secondary care. The double room they had was very spacious, and included a full bath, and a small kitchenette . They have both since passed, but I am extremely happy with the care they received. Plus the facility is amazing as well, welcoming and homely. Several of our relatives who visited my parents often said if they ever have a need, they would like to live at Brookdale Midwestern. Thank You Brookdale Midwestern!

She is not thriving. I have seen that the room is not kept very well. It wasn't clean at all when we came to visit. When I brought it up I was told they didn't have time, it seems they are understaffed. I was appalled when I came and saw the conditions, we came and cleaned it ourselves. I've eaten there twice, and we had the same food both times, it is marketed as fine cuisine but it is not. I feel like we got a really good sales job, with no follow through.

At Brookdale Midwestern the staff is very caring and friendly. I think a lot of it comes down to money. My mom needs very minimal medical help. It is so expensive for mom to get those few medications that the staff need to give her and she still has to pay a lot. I think there should be different ranges on that. I am happy with them. I think it is the right places for her. The staff, the food, and the activities are all great. The activities director, Stephanie, is my favorite person. The staff here is what really makes this facility. I wouldn't have mom at any other place.

I toured here when I was looking. I liked the facility and I liked the people. They almost seemed like a nursing home though. They kept the doors locked for safety reasons, so people couldn't go in and out without a staff member putting in the code. This just wasn't the best fit for my mom.

So far it has been a fairly good experience. It only took my mom a couple weeks to adjust. They are really friendly and pretty helpful. I have noticed the house keeping lacks a little bit, but other than that it has been fairly good.
