This facility has seriously declined in the 10 years since my mother was here. The director and staff are unresponsive to complaints either written or voiced at the rarely held resident/ staff meetings. The food is horrible with very few options available. I seriously doubt that the caloric requirements are being met when the same servings are given to a 90- pound woman and a 250- pound man - 1 /3 cup of each vegetable and a 2- inch square piece of meat. They offer very few community activities, an occasional trip to the Dollar General, and no day- outings. If I were you, I would not contract to obtain clients for them unless and until they address these issues.

Everyone is very nice. The only problem I have is maintenance. I reported a new key for the room was needed and it took weeks to get one, her leaking toilet has been reported and two weeks later it still leaked, they just put a urine catcher under the pipe to catch the water. The room air-conditioning unit filter has needed cleaned since the day she moved in. She is happy there as the food is great and they make sure there is always something she could do.

My family liked the care my dad received from all staff. They were quick to assist him when needed. They were kind and mindful of his specific needs. I would and have recommended Brookdale Sikes Lake to others looking.

Everything mentioned above but mainly because she is happy there. It took a couple of months to adjust. In the third month though, she said she wouldn't go back to her home even if she could....she loves it at Brookdale.

Picked because they accept Medicaid so if he runs out of money he can apply to stay.I probably would have pursued other avenues.

Very well taken care of outsider, inside. Sitting outside and viewing the lake and ducks. Impressed by housekeeping on job. Laundry is well done. Professionally well kept, clean. Staff I give an A plus.

Staff is great, my family member doesn't complain about the food so think it's good, I think the location is beautiful but in my opinion the accommodations are only fair to good, especially compared to the cost.

Response from Brookdale Sikes Lake
April 27, 2023We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. Our staff is committed to providing the highest-quality service and care and we will share your feedback with our management team.
I toured Brookdale Sikes Lake and really liked the facility. However, it was much bigger than the other facility that I toured. This facility is a two story facility and has elevators. My mom would not have been able to navigate well here. Otherwise, I had a great visit with the director and a nice tour.
The staff members were very friendly and we appreciated they encouraged our loved one to get involved when it came to the activities. They could improve on some amenities and their fire safety and help buttons.

What stood out most to me about Brookdale Sikes Lake was the kindness with which the staff treated my Dad. I know he felt safe and loved during his stay.

We had a very good tour experience with Brookdale Sikes Lake. We thought the facility itself was very nice and they gave a really good tour. We liked what we saw, but unfortunately they did not have any availability for respite stay at the time.
Brookdale Sikes Lake looked amazing. They had a lot to offer and it was a newer facility. I think we would have probably had a better experience here. My loved one was just so far gone that he would not have been able to enjoy the amenities that they had to offer the residents.
Brookdale Sikes Lake is a very welcoming community, and even though it is expensive - with the care they are able to provide it is worth it. They have been extremely helpful to our family so far, and our deciding factor was just the amount of advanced care they are able to provide for residents with dementia and Alzheimer's

It is a very nice place. We chose this community because my sister had two dogs, and Brookdale would allow them. We also liked that the location was close to our family. The holiday meals were excellent and we really appreciated the food there. The caregivers were okay but there weren't them and they were understaffed, The office staff went above and beyond to help my sister with her dogs. I would recommend this community to other families.

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Sikes Lake 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
