Brookdale Fort Myers The Colony

Everything has been wonderful. The staff has been very sweet. My father seems to be doing very well which makes less stress for the whole entire family. so I just want to say thank you to the staff and I would definitely recommend this place in the future

We are new here, but haven’t moved in yet, and so far everything is moving smoothly. Great staff as far as I can tell. I can tell by the video walkthrough and my caregivers knowledge that this will be an excellent choice for my step father.

My mom has been staying at Brookdale since January. The staff has been so accommodating to mom and her needs. The staff kept in touch before and after the recent storm. It was very comforting to know mom was safe and in a caring environment.

To say that I am pleased with the decision to trust Brookdale Ft. Myers The Colony with the care and well being of my spouse would be a vast understatement. I am absolutely delighted with the decision. From day one we were made to feel welcome, included and looked after. Every Member of Staff has gone out their way to accommodate us. They ask questions, they listen and they follow thru. Bottom line, they care. If you are faced with the difficult decision to place a loved one in Senior Living I would urge you to visit Brookdale The Colony Ft. Myers. You will happy that you did.

My husband passed away just a week after moving in. During the short experience, I think that they did a really good job. We chose Brookdale Fort Myers because many years ago, we had put my husbands mother there and had a good experience, they did a good job with her. I felt comfortable placing him here as well.

My mom was living at another Brookdale facility and because of advancing dementia we decided to move her to The Colony. Prior to the move mom was very much a recluse and never left her apartment or participated in any activities. Now that she is at The Colony she is THRIVING. She is out of her room virtually ALL day long, is participating in activities, eats in the dining room and socializes with her table mates and others. The attention and care that she is receiving from the staff is absolutely IMPECCABLE. At the previous facility I used to literally drop in on mom with the Echo Show device multiple times a day to be sure she was OK and always worried that something would happen and no one would know. Brookdale The Colony has given me such peace of mind and I no longer feel stressed about her well being. I simply cannot say enough about the staff starting at the top with [name removed], the Administrator, [name removed] the Health and Wellness Director, ALL of the nurses and aides. THANK YOU

My loved one was only there for four days. The staff was excellent, they cared about their patients! I can't say too much because I didn't have enough time to evaluate.

I have been hesitant in writing this review. I will say the care staff is friendly and they do try assist when asked. Management has a lot to be desired, maybe because many are new to the positions. Follow through is not the best. Food has never impressed me. Many days you see meals served on paper plates. (We pay a lot of money for that.) I have only seen residents being offered food or drinks at meal times. I have not seen anyone offer to residents while in their rooms. Like many other facilities, clothes and linens become misplaced even when marked. We were advised we would have care plan reviews, we did not. Weekends have alternating senior staff members in charge. Not sure what qualifications they all have, or need to have for that. The list goes on and on of items I or other family members have witnessed while visiting. I cannot recommend this or any other Brookdale facility.

My Mom moved to The Colony in January from another facility. Her transformation is profound! They keep her and her room, bedding, and clothes clean and fresh smelling which is a welcome change. The staff is very friendly and helpful to the residents. They go out of their way to ensure that Mom and the other residents are clean and engaged as much as possible for people with memory issues. The executive director is amazing and it shows that elder care is her passion!

I would recommend the Colony to anyone in need of memory care. I believe the care there is exceptionally good.We picked this community because it was affordable, small capacity = more personal attention, and good management.

I am a home health nurse, so I have been in a lot of assisted living buildings . Brookdale at the Colony is a beautiful facility, with caring and compassionate staff overseeing the care of residents whom reside there. The Executive Director, [name removed], is a wonderful individual and is very involved with the patients and families. I enjoy my visits there.

Brookdale the Colony in FT Myers Fl., truly does NOT feel like an institution rather more like a Festive home for our aging parents w memory impairment! Just last week, they Celebrated Mardi Gras with all the fan fair of New Orleans. Chef [name removed] & [name removed] made sure to have a cookout for a Super Bowl Party!! They both cater..to soo many different eating needs its truly remarkable how they keep it all together. [name removed] God Bless [name removed] her energy, passion and creative flair...keep residents busy & made to feel more like friends &family! Who keeps this place in great maintenance care [name removed] does! There is a whole great new team put together by [name removed] she is a Nurse & Executive Director...she lets residents sit in her office & tell thier life stories. Nurse [name removed]...recently saved my dads life & the daily Caregivers they are saints. [name removed], is just one of the gems! They all do such difficult work.[names removed] they know each resident so well thier jobs are beyond difficult.

My father needed care and we were not local- [name removed] and the staff were fantastic. They helped us make decisions, get my father moved, and settled! I can’t say enough about how caring they were and we would make the decision again to have our father move in.

Every time I visit this community I feel right at home. It’s truly a beautiful community. Everyone is always so nice and happy to help and address any questions or concerns I may have. The residents are always involved in something even baking classes! The inside courtyard is absolutely beautiful!

My aunts husband has dementia, and after she passed away last year, I placed him at Brookdale. Some of the reasons that I chose Brookdale over other facilities was the cleanliness, the small amount of residents and the large amount of staff. Every staff member knows every resident by name and their likes and dislikes. Those are very important things to me and I think they should be important to anyone that has to place a loved one in a facility.

Overall, if my mom is happy, I'm happy! I usually drop in unannounced several times throughout the week and each time I find her in good spirits and out of her room, surrounded by others. She tells me they take good care of her so that makes me happy! Sunday mornings they have a musical church service which my mom truly enjoys hearing & singing along. Together we like to sit out in their garden area and enjoy the fresh air. The Brookdale team members work together to take good care of their residents.

The place is small enough that all residents get needed care.They have many activities that residents can choose to participate in or to just watch.They will contact me if Mom needs anything. I am happy that she is content being there but miss talking to her daily as I use to.

Smaller patients and close to home. Employees had many year's experience. Husband only there for 5 days but all so helpful when he was there and sent him to hospital! From hospital he came home and we gave up his room at Brookdale.

My loved one was previously a resident at Brookdale Fort Myers The Colony and everything at this facility was great. The staff are very considerable of the residents' needs. The move in process went very smooth. The cleanliness, care services, meals and value for cost were all great. I would recommend Brookdale Fort Myers The Colony to others.

The manager is really good. The staff is friendly and caring. They were very attentive, and wonderful. There was good communication, while we were there. They have all kinds of activiites. We had an excellent experience. The value for the money was excellent. It's a smaller community, and they provide individual care. Overall, I would would recommend to other families.
