Brookdale Flagstaff

My loved one was previously a resident at Brookdale Flagstaff and everything was great for her at this facility. The cleanliness and friendliness were great. The staff and care services were also great.

People are wonderful. Very helpful staff that check up on me constantly. The staff is very kind.

Placing a parent in a facility is no easy task as we learned. [name removed] and [name removed] along with other staff made a tough situation much easier and were an incredible help. The facility is well kept and the staff have all been wonderful. We looked at several facilities that offered memory care including another Brookdale facility which was nicer than the others as well. Flagstaff was ideal due to the proximity of our family. I'm comfortable with our decision to have them care for my mother. Thank you [name removed] and Staff!

The overall building cleanliness is good, it is a beautiful facility and is well taken care of. The staff has been very nice and friendly. The director is real good at his job and the nursing management is also amazing. One of the issues is that his room was not a clean as it should be. I have some issues with communications and if there is anything that needs to be fixed I have to keep on them about it. I would recommend this facility to others.

It is a decent place to have to have my mother but I am in the process of looking at other options for in home care. So far, I have been pleased with the caregivers. I chose this community for the location. I do feel it is way overpriced for what my mother gets. it is not an all inclusive price, therefore, I pay a high price her being there and charges on top of that.

This facility I can't begin to express mine and my sisters gratitude to how they treat our mother. Our Mother needs some additional needs that other places wouldn't even consider accommodating, and they do it day in and day out without a second thought. The nurses and especially the senior staff are so caring, kind, thoughtful, and always go above and beyond for all their patients every time we visit. It was scary for us being across the country not being there every day for our Mother but this facility and their staff truly make this a rare find in the senior living space. They never cease to amaze me with how well they treat our Mother and I know she's in great hands, I've seen alot of senior living places and it doesn't get better than this place. We cannot thank the staff here enough for making the transition from independent living to senior living for our mother. I wish I could do more for the staff because they truly are amazing at caring for my mothers every need.

The difficulty with Brookdale is that the staff is shackled by poor administrators, who are only interested in the “bottom line”. As this became clear to existing staff, who most often were caring individuals, there was a mass exodus of the quality caregivers. As a result, inexperienced, under trained staff were hired which left the residents at risk and with subpar care. Activities exist on paper only. The highest organized activity is a movie in the DVD player. The so called “renovation” on the memory unit took at least 6 months and left the residents often at risk with the necessary accommodations. Lastly, the nightly staffing level is often so compromised that it presents a dangerous situation for the residents. Policy dictates that administrators are to compensate by filling in during a staffing shortage, but this NEVER happened in the year that my mother lived there. My best advice is to research a different option where your loved one will be more safe and well cared for.

I have no complaints about the community that my loved one has just recently moved into. He has had a hard time adjusting but for the most part, everything has been going okay for him. The overall facility has been fine with lots of great amenities available throughout the day,

So far things are good. I haven't really had any complaints about anything except maybe for activities. He says he thought there would be more to do based on the website, but he's bored. Other than that it's fine.
