My aunt moved into Brookdale anticipating a community providing good food, outings, activities, and new friends to share experiences. The first week she contracted COVID, quarantined with only meal delivery to her room, which was cold and inconsistent, such that one day she received in the evening all of her 3 daily meals - breakfast, lunch, and dinner - at one time, cold and inedible. A fire alarm in the middle of the night, stranded her on the 11th floor 1 hour without a means of taking the stairs and without direction from the staff (no direction from intercom systems located on each floor). Eventually, a private aide to a resident called the fire department, who remained on the line and assisted. Her unit was damaged during Hurricane Milton. Staff advised her to return - elevator broken, window seals broken, drywall removed. Respiratory issues within an hour. She's unable to reside in her unit. Several times we've tried to get clarity from the administration but no response.

My father needed more care than they were staffed to provide. He wasn't seen regularly by a competent doctor and ended up with a severe urinary tract infection. The nursing staff was inadequate and undertrained to deal with his needs. It's not that they're bad people, they just aren't equipped to handle patient who has high needs.

To be honest I think they are doing what they need to do by exchanging the windows and slowly renovating the inside. However, for me the only thing that matters is that my dad is happy and that he is well cared for. And, he is! The staff are very friendly and seem to enjoy their jobs. The overall appearance is not a top priority then.

My mother was I'll with c-diff for 3 months and even though I kept trying to get the nurse for the facility, [name removed] to have her checked out, she never came. Mom ended up at the hospital for 4 months! I was aware that there were several other residents with loose stools, and I believe the unclean buttons and door handles were infested with c-diff. Her room was not cleaned. I had to clean it. If it weren't for [name removed] the receptionist I would rate them a zero.

My family and loved one didn't have the best experience here. The community was clean when we would visit. The residents in the Assisted Living unit are not monitored well. The residents can skip meals for days without the staff noticing. Also, the staff wouldn't observe the residents taking their medications. We would recommend you ask lots of questions to make sure all your questions get answered.

Staff is very friendly and community is welcoming and warm! Beautiful views of the bay and being in South Tampa is a big plus. The carpet upstairs is a little dated but all in all a great community. !

Brookdale Bayshore is a beautiful community, the staff is friendly and caring. I love that they accept pets. My favorite spot to visit is on the boardwalk looking into the bay watching dolphins, there is so much life and movement with the eagle I saw chasing the osprey soaring high, as well as seagulls and other varieties of birds. The apartments are spacious and just right. I had the opportunity to eat a meal and it was delicious, made from scratch. I love how you can see it displayed so you know what you're getting as well as reading a beautiful restaurant style dining menu. No other community has a view like this.

While our loved one was there they could not keep staffing at all - everyone is super great and we did like the attitude of the staff but the director seemed to avoid us anytime we had questions or concerns. The care was not what we expected at all. Our loved one likes the meals and absolutely loved the activities. However our loved one was just not getting medication on a regular basis or sometimes did not get them at all.

Our family has able to have an in person tour and we really really liked the Brookdale Bayshore community, but we were moving my parents closer to other family which was going to make Brookdale about an hour away.
This was a very nice community but they felt that they would not be able to care for my loved one.
The community has a schedule of activities for the residents. The common areas are very clean. We would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. In fact we would live there if we could.

It would be a maybe community, due to the expense of the community. The food seems to be bland for residents and sometimes it is good. Some of the activities include chats with other residents, bingo, and other activities for the residents to choose from.

I absolutely loved it here at Brookdale Bayshore. I was in surgery and the staff actually came to the hospital and were with me. Once I got out of the hospital, the chef came up and asked what I needed. They were all very helpful and accommodating. I was in a single room and it overlooked the bay, tennis court, and the swimming pool. I also had a kitchen. They had tons of activities here. Families are welcome and many residents have their family with them everyday. For meals, you have a choice of 3 entrees which made you feel like you were at a restaurant. The food was delicious. During dinner they also give you choices for wine. We also have a cocktail hour everyday with different types of cocktails. You are able to have pets here. You get assigned a personal shopper and if you want to go with them you can, but they go to stores and get things that you need. I would absolutely recommend, I would go down here for a vacation.

We chose Brookdale Bayshore because of the location, it was close to the family as well as it was on the water and had great views. It was a nice open area. The room sizes are acceptable. The food here is chef prepared and you have a full menu to order from. I would recommend. They did have a turnover in management while we were moving in as well as when we were moving people out. We were here less than a year.

When we first saw this community is was very clean, its absolutely gorgeous, its very beautiful but very very expensive. We paid all of our fees, and when we when to go move our loved one into her room it was no where near finished. There was no pain on the walls, there was no flooring. It easily had three weeks of work to finish it. They offered to move our loved one into a new room which was more independent living, which was on the 12th floor. We shelled out thousands of dollars to this community, but unfortunately our loved one had passed and never even made it one day at this community. When we came to move out her furniture, the elevator was broken, we were told we could leave the furniture there until the elevator was fixed so we didn't have to carry it down 12 floors, but we never got a call, we got a bill for not coming to get her furniture after she passed. Other than the money issues the people who worked there were nice, but only because they knew they were getting our money. They had good care services, but you needed extra help like help with you laundry you had to pay extra. So it was almost like ale cart care services

They have exercises for the residences, book clubs, they even have a cocktail hour. On special occasions they will give the residences small gifts. They do have a swimming pool but it isn't open at the moment. The food right now is being delivered to our rooms due to COVID, but under the circumstances it is okay. The rooms are pretty spacious, we have a two bedroom. This community has a variety of rooms to choose from.

I am begging whoever reads this review to NEVER send their family members to Brookdale Bayshore. When my family first reached out to Brookdale to help us with our elderly family member, we spoke to Health and Wellness Director [name removed]. She explained that Brookdale Bayshore was a ‘semi-skilled’ nursing facility and told us everything we wanted to hear. [Name removed] also informed us that the facility offers support for all activities of daily living. THIS IS A LIE. THIS FACILITY HAS NO SEMI SKILLED OR SKILLED NURSING. THEY OFFER 0% HELP FOR FUNCTIONAL DAILY LIVING. Brookdale Bayshore offers absolutely no ethical care for patients and lacks the appropriate resources to provide quality care. It seems that Brookdale Bayshore’s last priority is Improving their patient’s quality of life.

My mother in law has been living here since 2015. This place is a revolving door for staff, nursing director and executive director. They are chronically understaffed. Unresponsive to phone calls. Despite many many meetings and paying for the highest level of care, there is constant pushback to provide even the most basic of the services we pay for. It has been a nightmare and we are in the process of moving her.

Our family has been happy with Mom's stay at Brookdale Bayshore. Her efficiency room is stylish and easy to maneuver with the walker. We love looking at Tampa Bay out the wall to wall windows. The staff is super friendly as well as meeting our needs. There are numerous activities scheduled each day. the dining hall has a restaurant style menu with several options at meals. this is a nice home and Mom is happy here.
