I'm late in writing this review but I drove by the other day. My mom spent a short fee months here when my dad had a heart attack. It was during covd which was annoying but place is great and very welcoming. My mom is a stoke victim with limited speech and mobility but they were very welcoming to her. The staff and director frank are fabulous as is [name removed] in vibrant living. Cannot compliment them enough!!... Read more

Response from Brightview Woodburn
June 14, 2023Hi Stephanie - We're blown away by your kind words! We will share this review with the rest of our team!
I had to move my husband from BrightView. The facility is beautiful, but the staff did not seem interested in the residents in dementia care. They would get the doctor to prescribe a medication and then contact the family. They kept calling my landline phone after I told them in person and in writing to call my cell phone. I would not recommend this place for dementia care.

As the previous review said ... Do Your Research! and definitely "shop" announced. Walk around and see what an actual day REALLY is like around BrightView. They promote activities, activities, activities. Vibrant Living. Don't see it. The "Daily Schedule" may look like they have a lot planned, however the follow through not so much. There is no variety, no enthusiasm. The schedule may be available to the residents, however there is no prompting of the residents to participate in the activities. Evenings and weekends are even worse than week days. BrightView does not have a Dr. on-site. They have a "nurse". The nurses don't seem well educated and certainly are not observant and/or aware of what is going on with the residents. The Director who oversees the nurses is unbelievably cold. One of their nurses, [name removed], is extremely cold and uncaring. She doesn't have time to address issues with the residents but seems to have lots of time to visit with other BrightView employees. I do not trust the care of my relative with her, or honestly with anyone at BrightView. If there is a medical problem, the problems are minimized. If you want your family member to have proper care you have to be there to make sure they are taken care of. Even if that means taking them for outside care. The employees that dispense medication, this is something that is EXTREMELY troublesome. Its not unusual for residents to receive the wrong medication, if they receive it at all. The employees that work hands on with the residents are extremely cold, uncaring and rough. Rarely is tenderness or warmth shown to the residents. My loved one was left in a soiled "Depends" for a day. When I asked about this I was told they hadn't changed it because he said he didn't need it changed. (I know it was the same undergarment I had left him in the evening before from a mark I left on the garment.) The lack of hygiene for the residents of the memory care unit is inexcusable. It is not unusual to see that a resident has not had help with dental hygiene, they are long overdue for a shower or for their hair to be washed. When trying to discuss issues with the Director of BrightView she immediately jumps to wanting to increase the care level of the resident. Its all about the bottom dollar with her. Rather than addressing problems with her staff she will tell you the problem is your family member. Its their memory, their ability, their issue. Family members that do speak up are not well liked by the staff, certainly not by the Management. Quite honestly it has gotten to the point that families are afraid to discuss problems with her because of the financial issue mentioned above, and family members are afraid of how their loved one will be treated after the discussion. In other words unless you are able to be there with your family member to ensure that they are treated as necessary and with some warmth and kindness BrightView is not a good fit. If you have no alternative I strongly recommend dropping by unannounced at different times during the morning, afternoon, evening and night to see exactly how your loved one is doing. Do Your Research!

My husband has been in the Memory Unit at Brightview since November. The place is wonderful! I am so grateful that I found Brightview. The staff is awesome, the food is great, the facility is attractive and well-maintained, and my husband gets the care and stimulation he needs. If you are looking for a facility for a loved one, definitely check out Brightview. :)

My 96 year old mother has been at Brightview for a year now. We are very happy with the staff and accommodations. It is a very happy, lively place. The staff goes out of their way to make her feel good and to take care of her. There are daily activities and many outings. She is very happy there and feels safe and well taken care of. The director, [name removed], is very kind and responsive to our needs. I highly recommend Brightview.

Please do you research before putting your loved one in Brightview Wellsprings! (Annandale Va) The care is terrible the food is terrible.... Dealing with Alzheimer's you need consistency and this place does not provide that. The director is not management material and has run this place in the ground. We enjoyed the setting when we moved our love one in a year ago but the with the overturn of staff and new director it is [Removed]. The atmosphere is cold and if you are not present daily to care for your loved one personally it will not get done! Please do your research and show up many times unannounced before leaving your loved one here.

I had a pleasant tour of this community. Everything went well, and everyone was kind. From what I saw they do a good job with the cleanliness around the facility. The staff I met was friendly, and helpful. They answered all my questions, and I have nice experience with my tour of this community. It was not the right fit for my wife, but my tour went well.

[Removed] spent a long time giving me an extensive introduction to Brightview which I very much appreciated. This is a really beautiful facility, reminiscent of a luxury European resort.

A Place for Mom has scored Brightview Woodburn 8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
