Barnes is not inexpensive. Hopefully we can keep Mom in there all her days. Clean and inviting is my 1st thought. My Mom has limited mobility, and that fits in at Barnes.

Know that your loved ones will take some time to adjust. Once they get comfortable with their new surroundings they will feel better about the living environment. I would recommend Barnes Place to other families looking for care for their loved ones.

My parents are adjusting well so far. It’s been 1 month. They seem to be making friends and doing a few activities. My father had a fall and was taken care of immediately. Everyone seems very friendly and helpful.

Clean, friendly, more appropriate for people in wheelchairs. Good communication with staff, nurses that oversee community. Felt they could give a higher level of care that Mom needed.

My loved one was a resident at Barnes Place and our experience overall at this facility was terrible. I would NOT recommend Barnes Place to anyone who is looking for Memory Care. This facility advertises that they are a Memory Care facility, but they definitely are NOT!

Mom enjoyed her time at Barnes, I'm just sorry that she had so little time there. It was so nice to hear about the people she interacted with and she loved that residents were able to have their pets. She enjoyed meeting all the dogs as the walked by her room. She enjoyed that she could have her nails done and enjoyed mealtime with the ladies at her table. The room seemed spacious and it was nice for her to have a refrigerator and microwave. Some places we considered did not allow the microwave. Barnes seemed quite accommodating to visitors.

I give 5 stars for all categories, My mom has been very pleased at Barnes Place. The main reason we chose Barnes Place over others we looked into was because it was clean, comfortable and it felt like someone's home and not like a facility or institution.

We are quite happy with Dad's situation & surroundings at Barnes. I have a few suggestions. 1. Install a light at the sign on Wood Street. It is very difficult to see the entrance at night. 2. Figure a better way to admit guests. If we bring Dad back after 8, it can be a very long wait to be admitted. 3. A chair in that entry would be good as many residents need to sit before they can be readmitted. 4. One wishful thought would be to reconfigure the front pull up to have a car under the portico. (Maybe extend it.) 5. More parking near the front entrance. 6. My dad likes to feed the birds outside his window. On his side of the building, there is not good walker access. If he walks all the way around from the back of the parking lot, the sidewalk drops roughly in several places. Having them graded for a walker would be safer. Overall, though we are very happy with his care & accommodations.

We needed to find a safe happy environment for our Aunt And Uncle. Barnes Place gave us immediate care for them both. We could not be more pleased. The care is excellent. The facility is spotless. The staff greets everyone on a first name basis. This is a high quality establishment.

Barnes Place was a blessing for my mom. I had to quickly find a place for her, as she couldn't take care of herself. I was able to move her in within 2 weeks on hospice, but I will say most of the residents here seem to be self sufficient. Many have been there for over 2 years, and some still drive. Barnes Place is clean, everyone is friendly, helpful and they're really festive. I think they have like 10 Christmas trees up and always have Christmas music playing in the lobby. Everyone decorates their doors and puts fun decorations out in the hallway. It's not a depressing place AT ALL! It's like a big family of support. I was relieved when they told me my mom could spend the remaining months of her life here. She has a doctor that visits a lot of other residents, as well as a hospice team. The only downfall is my mom lost some of her clothes, 5 pair of pants and a few tops. Lesson learned, I need to label them for laundry day. They're a bit low staffed, but no place is perfect.

My mother recently moved in and it went well. I would advise others to work out the cable situation before the move, but overall a smooth transition. The staff seems really nice and helpful, but I will add it has been just over a week.

It has been a good community. The room is lovely for my loved one. The regular staff are good. There are a lot of agency staff due to the community has had COVID in it. The nurses from the agency are supposed to be trained, and a lot of them seemed not to be trained. My loved one is able to communicate their needs though, and this makes me feel a little better.

Speaking with our loved ones they said the community was very clean, well kept, and overall just a great place. The staff members and everyone there was so cooperative and helpful. According to our loved one she really did seem to love the dining experience - she loved being able to socialize with a few ladies and always had good things to say about the meals. She was not really able to participate in the activities but she did enjoy getting her hair and nails done. It was a great experience

I would tell others that are looking into Barnes Place for their loved ones that they need to understand that when the facility assesses a patient, their assessment process has flaws. They asses them from a 0-6 scale and the price goes up as the care increases. My loved one went in here at a 1 and just a few weeks later was at a 5.

Barnes Place is beautiful, it is very well managed and the staff members are extremely friendly. All in all this community is a really good place.
This place is horrible! It has totally gone downhill. The aides have a terrible angry, condescending and actually mean attitude. The nurse is only there part time so they have “med techs” - whatever that is - in charge. Cleanliness in the residents rooms is a huge issue. Dirty clothes on floor, supplies every where - it makes one think of hoarders. The director is unresponsive to family members and the guy in charge at the home office is clueless. The food is okay, but the care is terrible. My relative got sores on her body because they just left her in a chair all day. Everyone in this operation should be ashamed of themselves. Don’t put someone you love or even hate in this place!

A Place for Mom has scored Barnes Place 8.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
