A Place for Mom has scored Avita of Brunswick with 2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 1 review in the last 2 years. Over all time, Avita of Brunswick has 4 reviews with an average "overall experience" of 4.3 out of 5.
My mother was first at Sunnybrook, then Avita because of the advancement of dementia. What started out as (seemingly) caring about my mother morphed into escalating bills and being ignored. $12000 a month and she was falling 1-2x per week. Her room was dirty, her clothes lost, and by Christmas I was disgusted with the level of care... inexperienced "aides" whom I last saw screaming at a resident. She became sick and by the time she was unable to get out of her bed, an ambulance took her to first, a full ER, and then to Maine Medical where she had influenza, bacterial pneumonia, and a UTI. Dead in a week. She only spent one night in a hospice where I watched her die. When cleaning her room, I told one of the top nursing people that she was going to hospice and her comment was: "It's for the best." A few months back I was in tears and spoke with some Director in her neighborhood whose comment was: "We are a FOR PROFIT organization, you know." Huh? I wished we had NEVER taken her there.

This is a nice community for good care. The menu is appealing and a lot really the good fine food that we have had her. We like the staff is caring and the community has a good feeling. The staff really care and know each person by name. This has a good home environment for the residents. We would highly recommend this community for the great care to others

My first visit --- loved it. [Removed] was patient and answered all my questions plus some I had not even thought of! The facility is new and so well thought out. All the staff I saw seemed dedicated and kind. I am recommending my sisters to visit sooner rather than later. I hope to add more comments later.

A Place for Mom has scored Avita of Brunswick 2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
