Avalon Memory Care - Hughes Circle in Dallas, TX
4.5

My mom has lived at Hughes house for over three years. In my opinion it is designed for people needing late stage care. There are not really activities because most residents could not participate. There are two care givers who have been there many years-Over a decade. The house manager is one of them. She does a wonderful job of overseeing the other employees. It really feels like a home. Because they have been with my mom for a few years it is clear they have a relationship with her. In a large setting, shift work by many people is the norm. It’s hard to have a real relationship with this model. This is the difference. They know their clients intimately and these long term employees truly do God’s work. These two are loving compassionate people who truly have a calling. There are at total of 4 full time employees at the house. The other 2 care givers have come and gone over the years but I’m thankful for the stability provided by the two who really run the show!

Satori Senior Care in Arlington, TX
5.0

I've visited many facilities while looking for a place to put my mother. Satori Senior Care is head and shoulders above the rest. In my experience the staff have always been professional and courteous. The owner goes above and beyond to make sure all of the residents are taken care of. He even gives the families his personal cell phone number and doesn't even mind when I text him at 9:00pm to see how mom is doing. Where else can you find that kind of service?!! I highly recommend Satori Senior Care to anyone who is looking for high quality care for their loved one.

Discover the many ways to pay for senior living

Planning ahead can better position you to make good choices for your loved one’s care in the future. But if your aging family member needs care now, there are ways to finance the cost of long-term care through a combination of approaches.

What are care homes?

Residential care homes are houses in residential neighborhoods that are equipped, adapted, and staffed to care for a small number of residents, usually between two and 10. Like assisted living communities, staff at care homes typically help residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and medication management. Although residential care homes vary significantly depending on the community, services usually include:

  • Help with personal care
  • Medication management
  • Mobility assistance
  • Nutritious meals
  • Social activities and outings
  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry

Learn More About Care Homes in Duncanville, TX

Duncanville, a suburb of Dallas, offers easy access to resources to meet daily needs — including shopping centers, dining experiences, health care facilities, and public transportation — while only about a 20-minute drive from Dallas’s downtown area. Within city limits, residents enjoy unique local attractions that create Duncanville’s unique identity and sense of community, like the International Museum of Cultures or its Smokin’ Blues & BBQ Festival.

In Duncanville, residential care homes — sometimes called care homes, board and care homes, group homes, or personal care homes — are often houses in residential neighborhoods that are adapted, equipped, and staffed to care for a small number of residents, usually 10 or less. Similar to assisted living but in a smaller, more residential setting, these homes provide supervision, organized events, and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs). This means care homes can help with everyday routines but typically do not provide 24-hour skilled nursing assistance.

Cost of Care Homes in Duncanville, TX

The cost of living in a care home depends largely on location. Since the homes are private residences, costs are tied to real estate value and therefore may vary greatly. However, the median cost of assisted living in 2020 was about $4,400 in the Dallas area and $4,000 in the state of Texas, according to Genworth.
