Easy to communicate and honesty are paramount. There are only approximately 8 residents there. I would recommend Sophia's Care Services to others looking.

Unity Home in Commack, NY
5.0

Unity Home has done an excellent job looking after my loved one. He is well taken care of, and really seems to have settled in nicely. I like that it is a smaller more intimate family type setting. They all eat meals together, and there is lots of individual attention for each resident. He took very well to it, and seems to be happy here!

Pleasantview Home for Adults in Bay Shore, NY
5.0

It’s been a long journey with Alzheimer’s and I called A Place For Mom to help guide me in the process of finding placement for my Mom. It’s a very emotional and overwhelming experience to find care outside your home. My advisor was very supportive and guided me through the decision making of placement. I chose Pleasantview under the direction of [name removed] which was the best decision I’ve made for my Mom. It’s been a 15 year journey and [name removed] and her wonderful and compassionate staff eased my anxiety and concerns immediately during the interview process . On a scale of 1 to 10. The nursing care is a 10. The environment is calm and nurturing and that’s the right medicine for Alzheimer’s. I could sleep at night and The staff was always available to reach out , and my mind was at ease . It’s a very special place and they took care of my Mom like family. It’s a gem that was found for me and my Mom. I would recommend Pleasantview highly because of the care given.

Planning ahead can better position you to make good choices for your loved one’s care in the future. But if your aging family member needs care now, there are ways to finance the cost of long-term care through a combination of approaches.

What are care homes?

Residential care homes are houses in residential neighborhoods that are equipped, adapted, and staffed to care for a small number of residents, usually between two and 10. Like assisted living communities, staff at care homes typically help residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and medication management. Although residential care homes vary significantly depending on the community, services usually include:

  • Help with personal care
  • Medication management
  • Mobility assistance
  • Nutritious meals
  • Social activities and outings
  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry

This historic hamlet within the Town of Brookhaven features views from Long Island’s North Shore and offers an old-fashioned, peaceful retirement within reach of the New York City metro area. Composed almost entirely of residential streets and an expansive nature preserve, Rocky Point gives residents a taste of the outdoors with its tranquil beaches and forested trails.

In Rocky Point, residential care homes — sometimes called care homes, board and care homes, group homes, or personal care homes — are often houses in residential neighborhoods that are adapted, equipped, and staffed to care for a small number of residents, usually 10 or less. Similar to assisted living but in a smaller, more residential setting, these homes provide supervision, organized events, and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs). This means care homes can help with everyday routines but typically do not provide 24-hour skilled nursing assistance.

Cost of Care Homes in Rocky Point, NY

The median monthly cost of a room in a care home is about $3,000 in the state of New York. However, the cost of living in a care home depends largely on location. Since the homes are private residences, costs are tied to real estate value and therefore may vary greatly.
