It’s been a long journey with Alzheimer’s and I called A Place For Mom to help guide me in the process of finding placement for my Mom. It’s a very emotional and overwhelming experience to find care outside your home. My advisor was very supportive and guided me through the decision making of placement. I chose Pleasantview under the direction of [name removed] which was the best decision I’ve made for my Mom. It’s been a 15 year journey and [name removed] and her wonderful and compassionate staff eased my anxiety and concerns immediately during the interview process . On a scale of 1 to 10. The nursing care is a 10. The environment is calm and nurturing and that’s the right medicine for Alzheimer’s. I could sleep at night and The staff was always available to reach out , and my mind was at ease . It’s a very special place and they took care of my Mom like family. It’s a gem that was found for me and my Mom. I would recommend Pleasantview highly because of the care given.... Read more

My mother has been a resident of the Pleasant View for more than a year and a half. It was a tough decision to bring her to an assisted living facility – but in the years since my father’s passing Mom had become so depressed that she could no longer live alone. She was barely communicative, saying at most a few words to anyone, was refusing to eat, and there were some days where we couldn’t even convince her to get out of bed. The change in my mother since she moved to Pleasant View has been nothing short of extraordinary (although for full disclosure it did take a couple of months for the new Mom (which was actually the old mom that had been missing since my father’s death) to emerge). She has made some good friends, participates in many activities, and often only in her room to sleep. This was the definitely the best possible move for my mother.

Pleasant View in Bay Shore seemed very nice and well taken care of. The staff member was very nice and very knowledgeable. She knew a lot of details and programs. The cleanliness was very good. It's fairly close to many businesses and amenities. It's centrally located. The outside was very well-kept, neat, had a nice appearance, and had plenty of parking.

When I first met [name removed]was the day we brought my mom there. I knew when I left that my mom was in good hands. My mom has dementia and can no longer live independently. Five months later, my mom is walking better, although with a walker. She has her confidence back with her walking. There are simple activities that they do each day to help stimulate the brain. I have seen such a difference in her. Yes the dementia will progress, but she is happier than she has been in a few years. I contribute this to [name removed] and her staff and their caring for the residences. I would without a doubt recommend this assisted living home to anyone who's loved one has dementia or alzheimers. With out Betty, I am not sure where my mom would be today.

I do not know what I would have done. My mother is in the best health and is getting stronger every day. I cannot give a recommendation high enough for Pleasant View. The care give to my mother is beyond excellence.

The director was super friendly and extremely kind. She took a genuine approach to everyone there. The facility was very clean. The nurse got my father up to moving, she really tried. She would help him do exercises to work his legs. He was mentality alert but he was blind. The basic price was very fair (My dad needed one and one care) and the price was reasonable. But putting the two cost together was a lot for my family to handle. That's one of the reasons it didn't work out in the end. He was to much work and they tried really hard. The attention given was exceptional. we gave it our best shot.

The Director runs an excelent home. She is well educated in the care of her patients, and a very loving person. I did like her very well, the home was clean and patients well cared for.

A Place for Mom has scored Pleasantview Home for Adults 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
