Unity Home in Commack, NY

Unity Home has done an excellent job looking after my loved one. He is well taken care of, and really seems to have settled in nicely. I like that it is a smaller more intimate family type setting. They all eat meals together, and there is lots of individual attention for each resident. He took very well to it, and seems to be happy here!

When my father turned 83 years old he was diagnosed with advanced dementia amid his other illnesses, and Amity Springs has been taking great care of him during his time at their community. Highly recommended.

My step father has been at Stewart Family Type Home for about two months now, and it has been a great experience so far. The place is clean, the food is heathy, and the staff has been so willing to accommodate his needs. He can be a little tough, but they are very helpful and caring. They allowed him to bring his dog with him, even though they don’t typically allow pets. I love that they invite him into the kitchen occasionally because he loves to cook so much. They really do care about involving the residents. I would definitely recommend Stewart to others. It has been great for us so far.

Discover the many ways to pay for senior living

Planning ahead can better position you to make good choices for your loved one’s care in the future. But if your aging family member needs care now, there are ways to finance the cost of long-term care through a combination of approaches.

What are care homes?

Residential care homes are houses in residential neighborhoods that are equipped, adapted, and staffed to care for a small number of residents, usually between two and 10. Like assisted living communities, staff at care homes typically help residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and medication management. Although residential care homes vary significantly depending on the community, services usually include:

  • Help with personal care
  • Medication management
  • Mobility assistance
  • Nutritious meals
  • Social activities and outings
  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry

Rockville Centre’s proximity to New York City and the village’s own unique attractions, like local festivals and nature areas, present a wide range of opportunities for entertainment and adventure throughout the surrounding area.

In Rockville Centre, residential care homes — sometimes called care homes, board and care homes, group homes, or personal care homes — are often houses in residential neighborhoods that are adapted, equipped, and staffed to care for a small number of residents, usually 10 or less. Similar to assisted living but in a smaller, more residential setting, these homes provide supervision, organized events, and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs). This means care homes can help with everyday routines but typically do not provide 24-hour skilled nursing assistance.

Cost of Care Homes in Rockville Centre, NY

The median monthly cost of a room in a care home is about $3,000 in the state of New York. However, the cost of living in a care home depends largely on location. Since the homes are private residences, costs are tied to real estate value and therefore may vary greatly.
