Ava Cares IV in Brandon, FL
4.5 / 5.0

My wife's uncle was here for almost 2-years until he passed away. I cannot tell you how comforting it felt to see how they provided a home for him with compassion, laughter, and a whole lot of caring and compassion. All necessary medical needs were provided for in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner as well. My family and I were there often, many times unannounced, and it was always top notch. I highly recommend Ava Cares!

Welcome Home Assisted Living Facility in Sarasota, FL
4.5 / 5.0

It's a small group home, with only about four people in it. This is fine for us. They don't really have activities, but this wasn't something we needed. It works really great for our needs but I can't really say what others would think. It's clean and the people are friendly. They are quick to respond to any needs or concerns, and they do a good job.

What are care homes?

Residential care homes are houses in residential neighborhoods that are equipped, adapted, and staffed to care for a small number of residents, usually between two and 10. Like assisted living communities, staff at care homes typically help residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and medication management. Although residential care homes vary significantly depending on the community, services usually include:

  • Help with personal care
  • Medication management
  • Mobility assistance
  • Nutritious meals
  • Social activities and outings
  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry

This rural Florida community just east of Bradenton offers a tranquil setting less than a half hour from the many pristine nature areas surrounding Tampa Bay, including Terra Ceia Preserve State Park. Nearby cities such as Ellenton and Palmetto provide daily resources like shopping centers, health care facilities, and public transportation.

In Parrish, residential care homes — sometimes called care homes, board and care homes, group homes, or personal care homes — are often houses in residential neighborhoods that are adapted, equipped, and staffed to care for a small number of residents, usually 10 or less. Similar to assisted living but in a smaller, more residential setting, these homes provide supervision, organized events, and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs). This means care homes can help with everyday routines but typically do not provide 24-hour skilled nursing assistance.

Cost of Care Homes in Parrish, FL

The median monthly cost of a room in a care home is about $2,800 in the state of Florida. However, the cost of living in a care home depends largely on location. Since the homes are private residences, costs are tied to real estate value and therefore may vary greatly.
