These include administration of medications by a certified medication aide, described as personal services, the provision of assisted self-preservation, and assisted living care. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to make sure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as assessment to determine the residents cognitive and behavioral impairments, assessment to determine the resident’s medical needs, personal preferences relative to care needs, and whether family supports are available. Public assistance is available through 1915(c) Medicaid Waiver programs- ) the Community Care Services Program is managed by the Department of Community Health’s Division of Medical Assistance Plans and partners with the Division of Aging Services and the Service Options Using Resources in a Community Environment (SOURCE) program.
