The staff were so friendly and helpful and tried very hard to care for so many in that ward without enough help but I never saw them lose their cool or fail to be professional. Part of the reason for the low cleanliness factor was their difficulty in getting and keeping staff. The frequently were understaffed until right before dad passed. Someone should tell them that in that situation when cleaning, especially mopping floors, water needs to be changed frequently because the urine odor was often overwhelming and it was throughout the unit so I suspect they were not changing the mop water enough

I think the quality of care is excellent… But I think mom needs to be in the memory care side instead of the regular side of the building.… Just to get a little extra care. They will probably move her once a room becomes available. Overall the place has been great.

My 81-year-old mom lived in the AL section of this community for almost 3 months while she received physical and occupational therapy and recovered from an automobile accident. I was absolutely amazed at the lengths the staff went to support mom and be sure that not only her physical needs were met but also her emotional needs. She THRIVED here! The meals were prepared fresh 3 times a day. Family are always welcome to eat with loved ones for a small additional fee. Since mom was in a back & neck brace, transportation was provided via the community’s private bus to and from medical appointments. There were “field trips” to visit local restaurants and businesses, art and craft projects, games (mom loved Bingo), religious services on Sundays, interesting and educational presentations from local personalities, pet therapy and SO much more. The facility is always very clean and the staff treat all residents with the respect, patience and love they deserve. They are the best!!

They could use help with keeping the place smelling fresh and clean. They are very good with the care services, and they keep me informed. The few activities that my loved one has participated in, they seemed to enjoy. They do pretty well with everything, and I am fairly pleased.

I think they are trying hard, the immediate staff are all very friendly. They are trying, but they are run like a corporation. Which I'd say is a negative because everything has to go through corporate and that can take a long time; and in turn, it doesn't have that personal element to it. They're not great communicators. My loved one has been there for some time and have only had their laundry done twice because somehow they didn't get put on the laundry list. I realize people can get lost and my loved one should speak up, but they aren't the kind of person who will do that. I have to keep contacting them to get things done because they're not great with communication, but maybe they will get better. I also realize that they are having staffing issues in relation to shortages and Covid, so we'll remain patient.

On the positive side, the nurses they have are fantastic. On the negative side - the administration leaves a lot to be desired. They are there 9-4 Monday through Friday and that is it. It is very hard to get a hold of them and their phone system never goes through so it is hard to talk to my dad. Overall the communication really needs to be improved - my dad went to the hospital and we were not notified until they were wheeling him into the ambulance. We never even knew he was sick. He went without medications for 4 days because they had a miscommunication with the pharmacy. The weekends are very bad, the place is only kept clean Monday through Friday but weekends it is filthy. A lot of his things go missing too. They never have the same nurses - there is a crazy amount of turnover going on. There is nothing for men to do, it mostly about the women. The food for memory care is horrible and it is always cold. The food on the assisted living side is wonderful.

[name removed] is the sales lady and she did such a good job working with our family and calling us throughout the week to see how we were doing. Right when our loved one moved in they welcomed them immediately and it really showed how much they wanted them there. [name removed] who is in charge of activities doing a fantastic job, they also update the residents on what activities are going on and when. The meals and dining service is good but sometimes our loved one does say they could use a little more of a variety. Anytime we have questions or concerns they are answered in a timely manner which we appreciate it, we would definitely recommend this community to others

Canopy at Azalea Grove is a lovely place, the staff is friendly and I would recommend them. They are hard to contact on the phone after hours, but their communication before 5pm is great. They take a personal interest in the residents and their families. It's a place to call home.

My father was a resident at The Canopy in the memory care unit and I can't say enough good things about the quality of care that he received while he was there. From day one their attention to detail and standard of care was at an all time high and they had my father's best interest in mind at all times. Knowing our father was safe and being cared for gave us peace of mind. They also went out of their way to make sure our family felt supported throughout the entire process of transitioning him into the memory care facility from his personal residence. They made that transition very easy and we had everything taken care of in less than a day. I would recommend this facility to anyone in need of personal care especially a loved one needing a memory care facility. The staff was so caring and attentive and my dad felt loved and safe at all times. The facility was also very pretty and clean at all times. The level of care is amazing.

I’ve worked with this facility for just under a month now as a licensed therapist. I can truly say I’ve never partnered with another facility that is like this one. The staff is very thorough and caring with each resident. Professionalism is established in every employee, no matter the job title. Cleanliness is superb- I’ve never even seen so much as a full trash can or a spill on the floor. The residents GUSH over how amazing everything is here. To quote one, “I tell people if you can’t live at home you need to live here”. Meal presentation is enticing and beautiful. The activities director has multiple events a day and is so involved, especially with the memory care unit. I’m blessed to work alongside this facility and I’d move my own grandparents here if I could!!

Since moving to the Canopy, I have been, not just content, but happy. I regard the staff here, not just as acquaintances, but as friends. Daily preparation of meals, medicine management, laundry, housekeeping, etc., had become a burden, but moving to the Canopy has freed me to pursue my own interests. I would heartily recommend the Canopy to anyone considering the need for assisted living.

This community was very responsive and very good with the people. When my loved one was in the hospital they called to check on him and I thought that was a really nice thing. This is a very good and nice community.

My family in general is very pleased with Canopy. We are impressed with the care given and especially the personal feeling of being part of a family that the staff at Canopy bring to my mother on a daily basis. Canopy at Azalea Grove is truly a lucky find.

Overall, I'm very happy with the Canopy. The first thing I noticed was how clean and new everything is. The second is the staff who have all been very nice and helpful. They are taking good care of my mom who fell not too long ago and fractured her pelvis (she was not in their care when it happened) so her level of care has been increased since she first moved in. I would say the only complaint my mom has is regarding the food, but even as that goes, the director called me to ask what kind of food my mom likes in an effort to make some things she'd love. They even went so far as to bake a bread my mom talked about and called me to get the recipe. I would recommend the Canopy to anyone looking for an assisted living (or memory care) facility for their parents. The staff is always responsive if I have questions or concerns which I find really reassuring. Overall, it's a beautiful place and there are lots of activities and the staff cares!
