This is a very homey style community. The Executive Director knows what she is doing. The staff truly care and they offer exceptional care for the residents. The staff are good at communicating with the family. Also, the Executive Director is good at making referrals for additional services provided by Medicare and following up on requests by the family. There are three meals a day offered to the residents. Benton House truly understands the difficulties of families and their aging loved one. During the tour, there was an industry staff member that goes into several different communities, and they even thought this was the best community around.
When I found myself in a situation where things weren't working out in a previous home for my Mom, I came across Peniston PCH. After my initial meeting with Breezy, the owner, nothing had been finalized, but I felt a sense of calm after the interview. I was somewhat stressed about the situation, and she expressed a genuine concern about how I was doing with everything. That alone stood out to me, so I was hopeful that my Mom would be able to gain residency. Thankfully, she agreed to take my Mom in, and from that point on everything has been wonderful. She keeps me in the loop with anything that's needed, any concerns she might have, and she's very detailed and proactive when it comes to my Mom's needs. The whole experience has been like night and day compared to the last PCH my Mom was staying at. I would highly recommend Peniston PCH to anyone that's looking for an environment where your loved one will be truly cared for and looked after.
Bethel Gardens use to be a wonderful place for my mom and other moms and dads alike. They had carrying loving caregivers and almost no turnover in residents or staff. I would walk in and the staff new me by name and they loved my mom. They understood her moods and the way she liked things. If she was ill they were on the phone with me asking about her health and when she would be back if she was hospitalized. When Canopy lifestyle took over its management it became a terrible place. Virtually no communication with family. So much employee turnover you never knew who the caregiver was. Residents began to leave. I didn't move mom because I know how hard it is when seniors experience change. I wasn't able to see my mom due to Covid-19 restrictions, yet my mom caught the virus at Bethel and passed away from the virus on [date removed]. Not one person working at Bethel or Canopy has reached out to see how she was when she was in the hospital or after she passed away. I am so disappointed in the way this once fantastic senior facility has been decimated.
