They kept changing the way they did the laundry, which was fine. But 50% of my loved one's clothes just disappeared, even after we tagged them. The food was not very good here. And they really didn't have much meal planning for you if you had needs or preferences off the main stream. I could see they had a lot of activities, but my loved one didn't participate. The management was very good. If you had an ear to management, they would help you out a lot. It's not like they ignored you. For instance, I wanted to put cameras in my loved one's room, and they were very open to that and helped me to get that achieved. Overall, after looking at several places, I'm glad I chose them. The marketing director was very supportive from the beginning to the end. I could run questions by her, and she was very helpful. We ended up needing hospice care, and they helped get that set up. The hospice service they recommend there was excellent. I got to talk to a chaplain once a week, and the home office would call me once a week. The hospice nurse was outstanding. It was like having a sister there.

Overall, our experience at Westmont has actually been very positive. When our father transferred to a memory care unit, we initially did not think that that was a great idea. Very soon we realized that we were wrong. The nurses the evaluators really did a wonderful job.

This is my first experience with assisted living as far as Alzheimers and from the various places I visited, this is by far the best place I saw, even halfway done you could see it was better. They have been great, there's only 9 patients on that wing right now, they're doing a good job. There's some issues, but i think that's with any facility, but they address it, they're very responsive and fix them quickly. They have been really wonderful to work with. I know my mother, when we took her there she wasn't doing anything but sitting in a chair watching tv, she hadn't taken a shower in 10 years (she was getting sponge baths) and they've gotten her in the shower; she has a walker but wouldn't use it and now she's walking around with it, she loves the food, shes a good cook so thats a big statement for her to make, they've got them doing puzzles and crafts which she never does, shes sort of like the den mother keeping them all together. It's been a big turn around for her and such an improvement in her quality of life. I also like that the staff wears white, it gives it more of a professional feel so you know who the staff is because a lot of times they're just wearing regular clothes with name tags so you're not sure who works there.
