Everything is working out pretty well for my mother here. She is still getting adjusted, but I know she is in good hands. This is a small care home with a great design and concept. The house is a ranch style with the kitchen, dining room and gathering space in the center. There is a small bedroom behind the kitchen and 3 larger bedrooms on the left and on the right off the main gathering area. Each bedroom has its own bath. (The house will hold 6-8 patients.) The responsive and friendly staff care about the men and ladies who live here. They make their beds, give them showers, help them dress, do their laundry, and make their meals. If time allows, some will do activities like puzzles or games. If you're looking for a caring atmosphere, extra attention for a Dementia or Alzheimer's loved one~this is the place!
The first week my father moved in he had a really bad experience due to a malfunctioning smoke alarm in his room, he could not get anyone to come and fix it so he took it down. Someone came to him and told him that they were going to have to write him up and he would be responsible for the repairs. That scared my dad really bad so now he is having a hard time with his transition. Nothing came of the problem and the staff has been working with my dad to help him settle in. I think losing my mom and having to move has also made things harder for my dad as well. Dad does like going to the dining room, he enjoys the food and will start taking part in the activities and field trips. I think that with time he is going to start liking it here as the community is very nice.
My mom loves it there, we looked at so many other locations and she liked this one the best. She likes how the place is secure and she can feel safe. Its also nice that the location is right by the hospital if anything were to happen. The only thing that bothers me is that during the winter it takes a long time before there street was even clean; and my mother was scared to leave the house because she thought she would fall trying to clean her car off.
