The facilities were clean. Floors were swept and moped regularly, along with vacuuming. The cafeteria area was free of crumbs or food sitting out. The individual rooms were cleaned weekly or more, if needed. Staff was extremely helpful, very nice, and answered any and all questions we had from the first visit to the day we moved her belongings out. The nurses were great with her meds and at the beginning of the end, kept us updated on changes in behavior, eating habits and so on. They also helped with getting hospice help.
We had a very good experience with Nekoosa Court, and I would highly recommend them to any of our family/friends or anyone that needed independent living or assisted living. All the residents seemed very happy. My mom passed away in October, and the main girls who worked with my mom came to visit in the hospital. They seemed to really care! The rooms were a comfortable size. My mom even had a nice view of trees and green grass, and deer would come up and eat the grass in the Fall.

Nursing homes, also called skilled nursing facilities, provide long-term care for seniors with significant physical or mental health conditions, and short-term care to people recovering from an injury or hospital stay. Nursing homes provide personal assistance and medical care from licensed professionals. Services in skilled nursing facilities often include:
A nursing home provides room and board to at least two individuals who have no family ties to the administrator. This type of complex offers its residents 24-hour care administered by on-site nurses. These nurses offer maintenance, personal care and other health related services for people who are unable to take care of their needs.
Nursing homes are a convenient and easy care alternative for individuals 65 years and above, however nursing homes will routinely admit individuals 55 and above (a rarity in the realm of senior care). Many residents of nursing homes are seniorswith , which can consist of verbal lash-outs, resisting aid, or an urge to wander. Often times individuals might decide life in a nursing home over another type of facility due to a physical or mental impairment that makes it difficult for them to accomplish their lifestyle goals. The most frequent mental issue effecting nursing home residents is dementia, which can cloud their decision making abilities, and their sense of familiarity, and memory function. Nursing homes are required to provide dietary services, specialized rehabilitative services (treatment for mental illness or intellectual disability), room and bed maintenance services, and emergency dental services to residents. There are some services that may come at a cost to residents which can include personal clothing, special care services not included in the facility’s Medicaid payment, and flowers and plants.
