My mom is doing fine at this community. We are having a little trouble with the meals and they are handling it well. The planned activities has been good for my mom to try out. I feel they are providing good care and the staff are communicating very well with me.
Staff is always happy to listen to me. I can be a bit of a handful and get cantankerous. Staff is patient. And willing to joke around! After being here awhile you build strong connections. Those bonds you make are everything. Can't imagine living anywhere else.
What we like the most about the Brookstone Alzheimer community is that it is clean and the residents are well taken care for. We would recommend this community to other families but it depends on residents needs. I don't think there is enough activity...they just took away what there was.

Nursing homes, also called skilled nursing facilities, provide long-term care for seniors with significant physical or mental health conditions, and short-term care to people recovering from an injury or hospital stay. Nursing homes provide personal assistance and medical care from licensed professionals. Services in skilled nursing facilities often include:
A nursing home is a building that houses at least two persons who are not related by blood or by marriage to the administrator. A nursing home facility offers its inhabitants 24-hour care administered by registered nurses. These nurses offer personal care, maintenance and other health related services for seniors who are unable to care for their needs.
Nursing homes are a convenient and comfy living choice for individuals 65 years and above, however nursing homes will frequently admit individuals 55 and above (a rarity in the realm of senior care). Many residents of nursing homes are individuals with behavioral problems. These can span verbal lash-outs, resisting assistance, or experiencing a desire to wander. A large portion of nursing home residents are persons who have mental or physical disabilities, require assistance with daily tasks such as walking, experience difficulty with hearing and vision, or have incontinence issues. Some services come at an extra cost which can include cosmetic and grooming items, a private room, unless medically needed, and personal clothing. Nursing homes are required to provide specialized rehabilitative services (treatment for mental illness or intellectual disability), medically-related social services, pharmaceutical services, and nursing and related services to residents. The most frequent mental condition experienced by residents of nursing homes is dementia, which can cloud their memory function, and familiarity, and decision making capabilities.
