Recent reviews of Nursing Homes in Elmhurst, NY
Cambridge Warren Retirement Community
4.0 / 5.0

One thing that we really liked when we were first visiting Cambridge was how our loved one could have their own room, and decorate it and set it up however they wanted. We thought that was nice since it would be more personable and homey. This community was known for having a good chef, so from what we could tell the food was excellent. We would recommend this community to another family or friend.

Eden Heights of Olean
5.0 / 5.0

All employees are friendly and polite, respond promptly to requests. Environments are kept spic and span. Meals are well balanced and delicious. I feel very lucky to be able to be here.

Parkside at Glenwood in Erie, PA
4.0 / 5.0

The staffing is not allowed to help with elderly individuals that have fallen down or tripped. That was one big reason why we DID place our parents there, not spelled out clearly in the beginning. Now we are going to look at other facilities. I would still recommend them. individuals going down this road need to pay close attention to what services are actually available and what the customer is paying for.

Complete guide to nursing homes

Elmhurst, New York

Nursing Homes

A nursing home is a facility that houses at least two persons who are not related by marriage or by blood to the administrator. This type of facility provides its inhabitants with care administered by registered nurses. These caregivers offer personal care, maintenance and other health related services for seniors who cannot adequately take care of themselves due to their aging.

This type of facility is a familiar and comfy care option for persons 65 years or older, however nursing homes will routinely take in individuals 55 and greater (a rarity in the realm of senior care).A large portion of nursing home occupants are persons who have mental or physical disabilities, have incontinence issues, experience difficulty with hearing and sight, or require assistance with daily tasks such as walking. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to make complaints, be free from abuse and neglect, be free from discrimination, and get information on services and fees. Many residents of nursing homes are persons with behavioral issues. These can consist of resisting assistance, verbal outbursts, or a tendency to wander. There are some services that may come at a cost to residents which can include a private room, unless medically needed, flowers and plants, and personal reading materials. A significant amount of occupants tend to be single women who have circles of support, and almost 50% of nursing home residents are over the age of 85.
