Hilltop at Glenwood in Florence, AL
3.5

My loved one was previously a resident at Hilltop at Glenwood and the overall experience was good. The staff is friendly, but I do feel like there is a lack of communication between them. Overall, I would recommend Hilltop at Glenwood to others who are looking for a Memory Care facility.

The facility and staff were ok, location is great.

Country Cottage - Russellville
5.0

A sweet member of my church family moved to Country Cottage in Russellville. I can't say enough positive things about this community. The staff are always available to help her. She said she didn't know what she would do without her "girls" at the Cottage. I pop in to check on her all the time. They have great activities and the food is absolutely fantastic. Their cook should open a restaurant. We are so thankful for these sweet ladies who work here and take excellent care of my friend. I would recommend 10 out of 10!

Nursing Homes

A nursing home facility provides room and board to two or more individuals who have no family relation to the administrator. This type of establishment offers its inhabitants 24-hour care administered by on-site nurses. These caregivers provide specialized care for people who are unable to take care of their needs because of their aging.

This type of facility is a convenient and comfortable living option for persons 65 years or older, however nursing homes will frequently take in individuals 55 and greater (a rarity in the realm of senior care). Some services come at an extra cost which can include specially prepared food, personal reading materials, and personal clothing. Nursing homes are required to provide emergency dental services, pharmaceutical services, routine personal hygiene items, and room and bed maintenance services to residents. Many residents of nursing homes are individuals with behavioral problems. These can consist of a tendency to wander, verbal outbursts, or resisting assistance. The most frequent mental issue effecting residents of nursing homes is dementia, which can hinder their and familiarity with their surroundings, decision making capacities, and memory recall.
