Cedar Crest of Silver Lake

This place is very clean and smells good. My mom is enjoying many of the residents. The activities and live music are back. The meals are well balanced and my mom says that she eats all the food that is given to her. I see many families visiting someone during the times i'm there. They are making the holidays season very festive with all the decorations. I would highly recommend this place. It is a family run business.

Lake Ridge Senior Health and Living Health Care Center in Buffalo, MN
5.0 / 5.0

We moved my family member in there and she has had the best experience out of all the assisted living facilities. The space is warm and welcoming. The staff know your name when you come to visit, and really care for their residents. There are activities daily to keep residents engaged. They celebrate the small things and even through the pandemic, Lake Ridge did a great job keeping everyone safe. They have given us peace of mind durning the difficult times of last year that our loved one is well taken care of, and her best interests are at the heart of what they do. Thank you!

Havenwood of Buffalo

This is all going to sound mushy & gushy, but I really appreciate Havenwood and mean every word. My dad lives in memory care and is now in hospice. I live an hour away, so can't visit as often as I'd like. Knowing my dad is in such a great facility makes that distance easier to handle. I know and trust that he's in great hands. -Every. Single. Person. We come across, from kitchen staff to cleaning staff to Greg, the facilities guy, to residents to nurses to office staff, everyone has been friendly and kind! -The facility is beautiful! It's been consistently clean as well. -The memory care nurses are stellar! While sitting with my dad in the main meeting area one morning, one nurse was giving a resident a manicure, then she braided another resident's hair and talked with her about her "baby" (a doll) so kindly, and she was going to make them Rice Krispie treats. When I commented on how great I thought all of that was, she said how much she loves these residents! That made me feel even better about where my dad is staying. He is getting positive daily attention and care. Also, I can call the nursing staff anytime to ask how my dad is doing and get an update. -My dad's room is spacious and nice. The cleaning team does a good job keeping it clean. I even talked with one gal and she said how much she loves to clean and talk with the residents. -Hospice - my dad receives hospice care while still being able to live in his same room. It is an outside company (Moments Hospice) and I regularly text the main nurse to check in on how my dad is doing. She usually responds within minutes. -The intake and updates on his care have been smooth. -I think the pricing is good. I live in the Twin Cities and know the care would cost more closer in the city. I appreciate that they don't nickel & dime every single thing that is needed. It's a flat fee based on what the patient needs. I don't have anything I would change at this point. I'm very grateful

Nursing Homes

A nursing home offers lodging to two or more individuals who have no personal ties to the administrator. A nursing home facility offers its residents around-the-clock care administered by on-site nurses. These caregivers offer care for those who cannot take care of themselves.

Nursing homes are a helpful and comfortable care option for individuals 65 years or older, however nursing homes will frequently take in persons 55 and older which is uncommon for other senior care types. Many residents are bachelors or widows with less social support, and almost fifty percent of nursing home residents are older than 85 years old. Types of care services and amenities offered at nursing homes can include meal programs, bill pay, help with legal questions, and senior centers. A significant portion of nursing home residents are persons who experience difficulty with vision and hearing, have mental or physical disabilities, require assistance with daily tasks such as walking, or have incontinence issues. The most frequent mental condition effecting nursing home residents is dementia, which can hinder their memory function, and familiarity with their surroundings, and decision making capabilities. Some services come at an extra cost which can include personal comfort items, specially prepared food, and special care services not included in the facility’s Medicaid payment.
