Residence on the St. Clair in Sarnia, ON

The staff seem to be quite attentive, there are some really good people there that will follow up. Everyone is pretty friendly. There have been some complaints about food, but they got a new chef recently, and it seems to be working out. They have been very accommodating. The activity director [Removed] is wonderful for getting people involved.

Visiting with a loved one, was so impressed with the outpouring of care by the staff. The caregivers work together so diligently as a team, very attentative to the residents, communication with the residents and families is superb, facility is clean, was offered to stay for lunch and enjoyed a home cooked meal. True family feel. Thank you so much to the Leisure Manor caregivers for treating everyone like family.

Commonwealth Senior Living at New Baltimore in Chesterfield, MI

Her doctor recommended Commonwealth and they had an opening when we needed it. It was clean, the rooms are well-appointed, the staff was fabulous and very responsive, and it wasn't so big as to be overwhelming. Staff was fantastic. Mom was only there 4 months and has been home since last August.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home community offers room and board to two or more individuals who are not related by blood or by marriage to the administrator. This type of community offers its residents 24-hour care by on-site nurses. These nurses offer maintenance, personal care and other health related services for those who cannot care for themselves because of the effects of aging.

As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to have protections against involuntary transfer or discharge, form or participate in resident groups, have your representative notified about your care, and get proper medical care. A significant number of nursing home inhabitants are individuals who require assistance with daily tasks such as bathing, have incontinence issues, experience difficulty with hearing and sight, or have a physical or mental disability. Types of amenities and servicesoffered at nursing homes can include adult day services , 24-hour emergency care, care coordination and case management, and friendly visitor programs. There are some services that may come at a cost to residents which can include personal reading materials, a private room, unless medically needed, and specially prepared food.
