Homestead of Emporia
5.0

The staff members have been friendly and supportive from the beginning of our experience with Emporia Place. There was thorough explanation of policy and paper work that was involved with my mother's move. Over-all, we are pleased with the care, and the facility itself. My mother has joined in with most of the activities and feels safe and secure in her apartment. We would recommend Emporia Place to others looking to make a change for a loved one.

The Rushwood Senior Living in Wichita, KS

I have been very pleased with this facility. My mother has been there for almost 3 months. There have been some hiccups, but everything has worked out. It is brand new and clean. My favorite thing is the staff. They are patient and engaged with the residents, not on their cell phones. Most importantly, my Mother is happy. Would highly recommend!

Andover Court
5.0

My parents are residents at Andover Court and they love it there! However, they can't keep their super great staff and they quit. Corporate will not pay the staff what they are worth, so they leave for other jobs. There is continuous turnover and it's hard on the residents. They have had excellent staff! The food is cold, and overcooked. My parents complain. They can't keep a good chef because they won't pay them. They just lost their wonderful activities director because they wouldn't give her a raise. She is the reason they are a 5 rating. We will see what happens now. My parents love it there. They have made many friends, and generally like everything about Andover Court.

Complete guide to nursing homes

Eureka, Kansas

Nursing Homes

A nursing home community provides lodging to at least two seniors who are not related by marriage or by blood to the administrator. This type of establishment provides its inhabitants with 24-hour care administered by registered nurses. These caregivers provide care for those who cannot adequately care for their needs.

This type of community is a helpful and easy living alternative for persons 65 years or older, however nursing homes will commonly admit individuals 55 and above rarely heard of in senior care regarding other care types. Examples of care services and amenities offered at nursing homes might include adult day health care (which offers nursing and therapy) , senior centers, intravenous or nutrition therapy, and wound care for pressure sores or a surgical wound. Often times seniors may select life in a nursing home due to a physical or mental impairment that prevents them from easily accomplishing the activities of daily living. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to have protections against involuntary transfer or discharge, be free from abuse and neglect, get information on services and fees, and be free from restraints. Nursing homes are required to provide dietary services, emergency dental services, medically-related social services, and pharmaceutical services to residents. Some services come at an extra cost which can include flowers and plants, a private room, unless medically needed, and cosmetic and grooming items.
