Willow Grove of Sherwood

I've so far been very pleased with Willow Grove. Of course, early on there was an adjustment period, but overall they have been very receptive and responsive to my concerns and desires. Their communication as to my Dad's situation has been very helpful to me.

Wellington Woods Memory Care in Little Rock, AR
5.0

Caring and compassionate staff, housekeeping is excellent, keeps family informed about most things and always are ready to talk when you go to visit. There were several staff were waiting to help us move in, even though it was after regular hours- the administrator even helped us hang pictures. I believe the meals are good, I've only eaten there a couple of times for special events. I would definitely recommend this facility. Also, the building itself is light and bright, very cheerful.

My mother is happy here. My mother is in the memory care unit and they don't have many activities on that side, they seem to do more activities on the assisted living side. The staff are good with my loved one.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home is a complex that offers residence to at least two persons who are not related by blood or by marriage to the administrator. A nursing home community offers its occupants around-the-clock care by on-site nurses. These caregivers offer personal care, maintenance and other health related services for people who are unable to care for themselves because of the effects of aging.

Nursing homes can be a convenient and comfortable care choice for persons 65 years or older, however nursing homes will admit persons 55 and greater which is unusual for other senior care types. The most frequent mental issue effecting residents of nursing homes is dementia, which can hinder their decision making abilities, and familiarity, and memory function. Some services come at an extra cost which can include special care services not included in the community’s Medicaid payment, flowers and plants, and personal reading materials. Many occupants of nursing homes are elders with interpersonal social issues, which can consist of verbal outbursts, resisting care, or experiencing a desire to wander. Nursing homes are required to provide specialized rehabilitative services (treatment for mental illness or intellectual disability), dietary services, a professionallly directed program of activities, and room and bed maintenance services to residents. A significant amount of inhabitants tend to be single women with circles of support, and about fifty percent of nursing home residents are over the age of 85.
