Everything is going well for my mother since her move to this community. She is doing well, and I'am pleased with all they have done for us. This community is working out pretty well for us, and it is a good place with kind people.

Brookdale Monroe Square

Overall, we are pleased with the residence and service. We feel that our resident is safe and taken care of. If we find something not working, it is corrected quickly. Most of the employees are extremely friendly and helpful. There are a few employees that are not friendly and get annoyed when asked to help. One day I arrived and could hear someone calling "help" and found that it was my family member and they had been put in a chair in their room and no one had come back to help them. This was concerning. The main areas are always clean and look very inviting. The individual rooms need to be cleaned better and more care needed when washing and folding resident's clothes. Clothes are very wrinkled and not hung or stored properly. The man that was at the front desk all the time is very much missed, he seemed to look after and genuinely care for the residents and visitors. I miss someone being there to help or answer questions. No one being there is a benefit that is lost.

My family and I made the decision to go with Palmetto. We loved that it is small and personnel. My mom seems to enjoy it as well.

Independent Living

Independent Living Communities provide individuals with a nice balance between an independent lifestyle and not having to worry about chores. Basic needs such as meal preparation and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and leisure activities is provided, allowing residents the autonomy to use their time as they wish, free from daily obligations. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to live among peers, in a community with others of similar ages and interests. Typically comprised of a private living area and a full kitchen, these communities offer residences with many of the amenities of apartment life but without the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and more time can be spent with them with the basic maintenance of daily tasks out of the way. If medical or nursing assistance is desired, residents may always utilize the services of independent caregivers. There are a number of advantages and costs to consider while choosing an independent living community. It is important to learn if these services are included in the care plan: wellness program, move-in fee, transportation, laundry, Waiting list deposit, initial assessment fee, utilities, and parking. The amenities associated with independent living include golf course, laundry service, security guards, game/TV room, fitness center & swimming pool, private rental hall, concierge services, and beauty salon & barber shop.
