Aviva Glendale Assisted Living in Toledo, OH
3.8

My mother really liked it here for the time she stayed which was about 4 months. But I don't think she realized she didn't need to be in an assisted living facility from that point on. It was great for her when she got out of the hospital but not necessary for her to continue living there. All the people were super nice and went above and beyond for her. I never really saw any cleanliness issues though it did smell of urine once in awhile. The staff was generally always very nice. Some more nice than others, once in a while there would be an aid that wasn't over accommodating but generally never any negative things about anyone. Quality of care was good for my mom but I heard many stories of other people not being cared for very well. Although I didn't see any of this in my own eyes I heard it quite often from my mom that her friends were not being cared for properly there. So I can only comment on what I heard from her. My mom was definitely one of their easier residents. Overall I think my mom enjoyed the food though there was times when she complained a little bit about it. But I'll be honest she complains about the food at the new place too. So there you go. My mom loved all the activities that they had at aviva. I think she would have been happy just doing anything. She just likes to keep busy and socialize. So she always enjoyed the activities they did. I think the value you get from staying there is worth the money. I priced out so many other places that seem to be comparable to Aviva and cost so much more. Now obviously we didn't get a chance to stay at any of those other places so I can only compare dollar value by place. It's definitely one of the cheaper places in town.

We are very happy. They care. They care about my mother they care about us being happy they care about how the room looks. They care about the activities. They are very understanding when my mom is upset, and they have no problem sitting with her for as long as it takes. I was so impressed. I have referred two other people there and they are just as happy.

The Waterford at Levis Commons in Perrysburg, OH
4.5

The Waterford offers a variety of apartments, my preference being a 3-room, 2-bath, with private patio. The staff is top-notch, very helpful and friendly. The activities staff offers many activities and events, including games, brain teasers, crafts, entertainment, weekly Happy Hour in the pub, and trips to local places of interest. There is a well-stocked library, hundreds of jigsaw puzzles, pool table and craft room. The nicely designed dining room provides a varied menu with 2 main entrees plus numerous options. The building has an interior open furnished courtyard and there is a large pond on the property with resident fish and visiting ducks. For those who have walking mobility, there are paved sidewalks for enjoying the pleasant surroundings. All-in-all, the Waterford offers a very enjoyable transition to communal senior living, both independent and assisted.

I absolutely would recommend to others. Browning has lifted my mom's spirit. It feels like a community rather than a wing in a building. It just has a great friendly, professional vibe.
