Arbor Terrace Mountainside
5.0 / 5.0

The only helpful thing would be using Touchpoint to create the shopping list when supplies run out. I often get multiple calls a day when they run out of soap supplies. Really minor because of such great care and medical coordination. Very happy with the transparency and visibility, the family app with activity participation levels and photos is great as well.

The Residence at St. Peter’s in River Edge, NJ
4.5 / 5.0

We went with The Senior Residence at Se. Peter Apostle because they offered a comparable level of service for almost $2000 less a month. The facility is smaller with only 20 rooms, it is a former convent so you have to be ok with a small room versus some other places that had large rooms. They have communal bathrooms and showers but there are 4 per hall so she has never had to wait. In terms of services, the other places we saw were not offering much more than this one and were more expensive. Here they offer 3 meals a day and access to coffee and tea throughout the day in a common room. It offers towel and bedsheet cleaning. But they do not have as many activities provided which is ok. The atmosphere is homey and she is comfortable here. I would absolutely recommend that others check it out. Staff are amazing and it doesn't matter who it is, they are super helpful to the residents. You can reach the director at anytime, she even gave me her phone number if we needed anything.

Sunrise of Lincroft
5.0 / 5.0

My mother has flourished at Sunrise of Lincroft. Her health and personal needs are provided for by a caring and kind staff and she can participate in a variety of activities that interest her and the other residents. The facility has a cozy home-like atmosphere. My mother is seen regularly by her doctor's office and other services are available if needed (therapy, dental, vision, hearing, dermatology, etc.) Families are always welcome and included in frequently scheduled social events that have resumed since the end of the Covid restrictions. I truly believe my mother would not have reached her current age or had a good quality of life if she had stayed at home, even with home care, and our family has been relieved of worry. I recommend being involved in your loved one's experience at Sunrise.

Complete guide to independent living

Staten Island, New York

Independent Living

An Independent Living Community permits residents the opportunity to continue to live active lives while assuring their care requirements are being fulfilled. Frequent needs such as housekeeping and the scheduling of social activities are taken care of, allowing residents more opportunities to live their lives as they desire. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to live among peers, in a community with others of similar age groups and interests. Within the individual units, residents have access to their own private living space and a full kitchen, and can even live with a partner if they prefer. While policies vary between communities, numerous residences allow cats and dogs as well. Nursing and health care services can always be arranged for with private care providers as desired. There are a number of advantages and expenditures to balance when choosing an independent living community. It is important to learn if these amenities are covered in the service plan: move-in fee, internet access, utilities, transportation, field trips, housekeeping, parking, and initial assessment fee. The conveniences associated with independent living include restaurant-style dining hall, game/TV room, laundry service, transportation, community activities, concierge services, fitness center & swimming pool, and security guards.
