Oak Park Place - Albert Lea

They really try and involve the community and their decorations are beautiful. The facility is very nice and clean and always decorated. As far as improving, on the memory care side, I have seen no activities with those residents. And with memory care it may be difficult, but they have puzzles on a shelf but I have never seen any open. There is very little interaction with the residents. They seem to just send everyone back to their rooms after mealtime. On the other side, assisted living side, they have several activities that residents can partake in like exercise class, bingo, a boat trip outing, but nothing in memory care.

This is a very good comforting place for a family member to be. The staff are very caring and helpful with my loved one. They provide good quality care.

Cedars of Austin
4.9 / 5.0

I was very pleased with the care that my husband received while at the Cedars of Austin. The staff was very kind and met all his needs. Every day he had an activity that he would enjoy, from weekly bus trips, bingo, art projects, musical entertainment, and ice cream socials and gathering times with other residents. The facility is very nice and has a beautiful courtyard, allowing the residence to enjoy the outdoors. The Cedars also offered church services for the residence, inviting ministers to come and conduct services. Cedars of Austin gave my husband 15 months of quality of life that I could not have given him at home. I am very grateful for their care and love that they gave my husband.

Independent Living

For seniors who would prefer to live primarily without assistance but wish for the convenience of having daily tasks and responsibilities handled by professionalls, an Independent Living Community may be the perfect choice. Basic chores such as meal preparation and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and social activities is maintained, allowing residents the autonomy to use their time as they see fit, free from daily responsibilities. Residents’ quarters consist of a private living space with their own kitchen. While policies differ between communities, a number of residences allow pets as well. Nursing and health care services can always be arranged for with private care providers if desired. There are an assortment of expenditures and benefits to balance while determining an independent living community. It is important to determine if these amenities are included in your service plan: field trips, move-in fee, meals, Waiting list deposit, transportation, housekeeping, cable TV, and private phone.
