Overall we have been very pleased with the staff and their care services. We do not have first hand experience with the meals and dining service, but we feel what is being served is appropriate. It may not be as many home cooked meals as we would like but overall they food looks good. The activities are still somewhat limited. We do think the value for cost is good and we would absolutely recommend the Golden Horizon's community to other families

My grandpa has been living at this assisted living facility for a year now and it has been a wonderful experience. The staff are incredibly attentive and caring, always going out of their way to make sure he is comfortable and well taken care of. The facility itself is well-maintained and has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I feel confident knowing that my grandpa is in good hands and would highly recommend this assisted living facility to others looking for quality care.

Thank you so much for your help. [Name removed] really saved me a lot of time and I know I made a better decision because of her help. Everyone has been friendly and welcoming. My loved one spends a lot less time napping. My loved one is making friends and enjoying mealtimes and activities.

Complete guide to independent living

Aitkin, Minnesota

Independent Living

An Independent Living Community provides residents the chance to live an active life while assuring their care requirements are fulfilled. Meals, recreational activities and housekeeping chores are handled while you are able to use your time as you prefer. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to live among peers, in a community with others of similar ages and backgrounds. Within the individual units, residents have access to a private living space and a full kitchen, and can even live with a companion if they prefer. While policies vary between locations, a number of residences allow cats and dogs as well. If medical or nursing assistance is desired, residents may always enlist the services of private caregivers. There are a variety of advantages and expenditures to consider when selecting an independent living community. It is important to figure out if these amenities are covered in the plan: parking, internet access, housekeeping, laundry, move-in fee, wellness program, cable TV, and transportation. The benefits and amenities that pertain to independent living include beauty salon & barber shop, restaurant-style dining hall, game/TV room, private rental hall, laundry service, healthcare center, concierge services, and golf course.
