I would recommend if the person had severe dementia, they are very friendly the only complaint she has is that the food is not very good.

Regency Heights in Iowa City, IA

Mom is doing very well here she has settled in nicely. She has wonderful friendly neighbors. Her apartment is good she has washer dryer inside her apartment which is wonderful. The staff is friendly and nice. The community itself does not offer any sort of activities but the residents make their own social hours whether it be doing a potluck on a Sunday night or the ladies looking forward to the mailman coming around and capturing their attention for while and chatting what ever it is they seem to enjoy it. I do have a couple of issues that have concerned me in regards to safety. Normally the building itself is locked and the resident needs a code to be able to let you in but it has been mentioned that the back door has been left ajar and there have been family members of residents found staying the night sleeping in the common area coach. If arrangments like that have been made with the staffing a general notification should go out to the residents so they are aware. Putting aside those issues this place is wonderful I am pleased.

Pearl City Place in Muscatine, IA
4.9

My mom has lived at Pearl City Place for 17 months. It is a very warm and homey atmosphere. She really likes it. She has a lot of friends there. The director and nurse are very good and caring. The nurse is a RN and there full time. The director is also a LPN nurse. The activity director does a lot of things with the residents like Bingo, birthday parties, painting nails, movies, games and more. They just got a bus a few months ago. She has taken them on outings to movie, art museum, Discovery Center, lunch outing and Festival of Trees. They have had breakfast with cops and firemen too. They have two cooks that are very good. One of the cooks is a Chef. We are very pleased with the management at Pearl City Place.

West Liberty, Iowa

Independent Living

Independent Living Communities provide seniors with a handy harmony between an independent lifestyle and not having to worry about chores. Seniors can use their free time as they wish while their food is prepared by a professionall chef, housekeeping and laundry duties are handled by staff, and recreational activities are scheduled and organized. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to live among peers, in a community with others of similar age groups and backgrounds. Within the individual units, residents have access to a private living space and a full kitchen, and can even live with a partner if they choose. While policies vary between locations, numerous residences allow pets as well. If medical or nursing assistance is desired, residents may always utilize the services of private caregivers. There are an assortment of expenses and benefits to consider when determining an independent living community. It is important to figure out if these amenities are included in your care plan: initial assessment fee, wellness program, transportation, private phone, internet access, utilities, field trips, and parking. The benefits and amenities associated with independent living include security guards, fitness center & swimming pool, healthcare center, restaurant-style dining hall, golf course, laundry service, beauty salon & barber shop, and transportation.
