My father-in-law was a resident of Sunnybrook in Ft. Madison for almost 3 years. Prior to moving to Sunnybrook, his health was poor and he was hospitized monthly. He enjoyed the social aspect of visiting and playing cards with his friends at Sunnybrook. His mental and physical health also improved while at Sunnybrook. We credit Sunnybrook with giving us a couple more years with him.
[name removed] loved it there. Staff was great. It was his home. The atmosphere was very bright and cheery, it felt very welcoming.
I couldn't have found a better place. They are so caring and concerned, notify me every time my loved one is not feeling well and answer all of my questions. Worth every penny. I would absolutely recommend this facility to family and friends.

An Independent Living Community allows residents the chance to continue to live an active life while making sure their basic needs have been met. Frequent needs such as meal planning and the scheduling of social activities are taken care of, which permits occupants more opportunities to live active lives as they desire. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to be among peers, surrounded by others of similar age groups and backgrounds. Typically comprised of a private living space and a full kitchen, these communities offer residences with many of the amenities of apartment life but without the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and there will be more time to spend with them with the basic maintenance of daily tasks out of the way. While policies vary between communities, numerous residences allow pets as well. If medical or nursing support is desired, residents may always utilize the services of independent care providers. There are an assortment of expenditures and advantages to keep in mind while deciding on an independent living community. It is important to figure out if these amenities are included in the plan: private phone, cable TV, housekeeping, wellness program, laundry, move-in fee, meals, and parking. The benefits and amenities that pertain to independent living include game/TV room, golf course, private rental hall, concierge services, restaurant-style dining hall, healthcare center, laundry service, and beauty salon & barber shop.
