Independent Living
It's been a much better experience than I thought. Mom has been happy with the food, activities, and staff. Yes, I'd absolutely recommend to others.
My mothers experience was good. She did have to stay on the second floor due to her diagnosis of dementia and that was not present for her...felt like a prisoner. The staff were very attentive and most of all she was safe so we could feel like we had a break from 24x7 care givers. She doesn't show signs of dementia most of the time but the doctor gave the word and Atria had no choice but to put her on memory care floor. We plan an another trip next April and will need some help then.
My Brother has been a resident of Vista del Mar Senior Living for nearly 3 years, and we were very happy with our choice. We had problems finding another Assisted Living facility in Culver City, and Vista del Mar was perfect. It has met all of my Brother's needs and he has been very happy there. We have since found another Assisted Living facility in Culver City, and that is the only reason my Brother is moving. The new facility will have big shoes to fill. The Staff at Vista del Mar, (especially [Name removed]) should be proud to be associated with a great Senior Living Center. Thank all of you.

If you want the convenience of having your housekeeping handled while living the way you wish, think about the option of an Independent Living Community. Basic needs such as meal preparation and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and social activities is provided, allowing residents the autonomy to use their time as they choose, free from daily responsibilities. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to live among peers, in a community with others of similar ages and interests. Typically consisting of a private living space and a full kitchen, these communities offer homes with many of the amenities of apartment life but with none of the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and there will be more time to spend with them with the basic maintenance of daily chores out of the way. While policies vary between communities, numerous residences allow pets as well. Nursing and health care services may always be arranged for with private care providers if desired. There are an assortment of benefits and expenditures to consider while selecting an independent living community. It is important to learn if these services are covered in the service plan: field trips, wellness program, laundry, parking, internet access, initial assessment fee, private phone, and utilities.
