I like the size of this place. It's smaller so it's very friendly and comfortable. My wife has been here for 2 years and particularly enjoys being in the common area and gets a lot of enjoyment from participating in the daily activities which are very good.... Read more

Helping other here gives everyone a great feeling! All the staff works as a team to ensure the residents get everything they need! The courtyard is beautiful and bright. There are a lot of pictures on the walls of the residents doing fun things with their families. When you walk into the residents quarters you are greeted with big smiles. It was great to see them all dancing and laughing to a live band.

September 30, 2019Thank you Floyd for your feedback. We appreciate it!
I have been visiting all kinds of places. We have just moved to Tucson from out of state and trying to find a place for Mother. I was getting tired of all the whoop-la from all the places. When I came to this one it was refreshing and felt like I had imagined it should. The focus was on my Mom and our family (not all about them or what they have, etc.)! There were a lot of things we never thought of and even more great ideas were offered to help us help through this transition. I didn't feel interrogated; instead I was listened ! When Cat said; "you, your family and Mother are our bosses, we work for you." I thought I was going to leap for joy! I liked the community but even better the feeling everyone gave us while visiting! It was a relief to be treated with care and respect and saw that in the way the workers treat the people that live there!

September 8, 2019Dear Christopher, thank you very much for taking the time to write this review. The team at Woodland Palms Memory Care appreciates your visit. We strive to make people feel at home. We believe that if you do the right thing, the right things happen. Thank you again for the kind review.
I have a loved one residing at Woodland Palms and I can say that this community has really shaped into a great place for residents. The facility has had major changes recently with both remodeling and with new staff. Their newly implemented Honor Wall has become the talk of the community (residents) and they love it! When it comes to the staff, I couldn't even begin to describe how amazing they are! There have been some new faces to the community within the past few weeks and this new team (of old and new employees) has created a happy and loving environment for residents and family. The activities department has been in full swing with activities going on all the time from crafts, exercising, therapeutic group chats, to fun exciting games. Whatever the activity, the amazing activities director always has a big group of residents interacting and they are always having a blast. The best thing about this community is that since it is a smaller community, there is more personal one-on-one care. The residents have a chance to become more personable with staff and that is what makes this a very loving community.

August 27, 2019Thank you very much for taking the time to write this review. Our team at Woodland Palms takes great pride in providing a great environment and experience for our residents and their families. We appreciate your feedback to let our team know how we are doing! Thanks again.
When walking into the community we were met with a big "hello" and smile from the receptionist. She introduced us to [name removed] the saleswomen. We could tell in one instant that she loves the community and what she does. [Name removed] is very knowledgeable and honest. It was evident that she really cared for us and our Dad. When we went to see the living hall and rooms everyone said hello and went out of their way to come talk to us! We made a point to talk to residents and asked them how they liked living there. Not one person was unhappy or complained. It was obvious that the care staff loved the residents!! The pricing is fantastic and when we had lunch it was served with care (and the food was great)! The visit was about us and our family. Not a big sale pitch or pressure to hurry and make a decision. These are the things that make this place very good and our number one pick!

While visiting a friend that lives there, I was excited to see how everyone knew everyone and got along so well together. Residents were helping each other, laughing and doing a fun activity. The grounds are pretty but the inside of the building does need some upgrading. I suppose that isn't what makes a good facility. It was good to see everyone happy and the food looked good. I liked the fact there was music playing in the dining room. In looking at the activities calendar, there is something for everyone.

August 8, 2019Dear Wendi, we appreciate hearing from you. We continually strive for excellence to be a caring community where our value for family can develop and flourish. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your visit at our community. Thank you for taking the time to rate Woodland Palms.
I visited this community and was pleased to see how they are re-modeling/re-decorating. The staff and residents I visited were happy and friendly. It was really nice to see them all doing things together. The feel of this community is really nice. The courtyard was full of residents and some of them were watering plants or just talking together. I spoke to one Gentleman that just raved about how happy he was. Another woman came up to us and just said hello with the biggest smile. While the community isn't new, that isn't what we are looking for. I feel this is a great fit for our family member. Just knowing they interact, are active and smiling was all we needed to see!

In just a couple months my Mother has gained mobility and has come out of her shell! She is doing things she hasn't done in years like drawing and doing the exercise classes! I was amazed at all the names of other people there she remembered. She laughs and is happy now! You don't know how much that means to us all! Thank you to the staff and management!

Bad place to live or work. Poor management. 1 good care person don't know her name, but shes a black girl part of the care team. She definitely made me feel like this is the place. The only one actually that I feel I can depend on with the needs of my dad. I honestly would not recommend this place to nobody. It is the bottom of the barrel living. I have to reiterate that management is horrible and should seek new positions in a field other than assisted living and dementia/Alzheimer's because they are indeed clueless about these mind diseases. Again that one girl makes the experience worth it. I think if she wasn't there, my dad would not be there. Honestly!!

May 11, 2020Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review. We always welcome feedback and are pleased to hear about your positive experience with us at Woodland Palms. Thanks again!
I was overwhelmed by the love and understand of the staff. It has to be very difficult to care for people with memory issues. They refuse showers, yell at the staff but they are highly trained in memory care and realize it is the disease and not the person. They have to be prepared for anything and everything. I saw a very ungrateful family yelling at the staff and they didn't even know what was really the issue. It is also their jobs to take care of a stressful family and put them at ease. This is not a job for just anyone. I saw that first hand. They truly care and have the passion for what they do. This was the main reason I picked this facility over the rest. Observe at the interaction of staff and patients.

May 4, 2019Scooter, Thank you for your kind words and understanding. You are correct in that this line of work is not for everyone and there is a lot to know--both for staff and families. We are always learning together and hope that we can partner with families to provide the best care possible. Thank you again!
SInce this has been run by a new management company with an entirely new management team, this is a hidden Tucson gem. The staff is incredible, the food is fantastic! This is a resident centered community that lets the families and the residents have a say in everything. These past reviews do not just true justice !!!

May 4, 2019Sophia, Thank you for the time you have taken to leave your kind words. We are always working to improve and get better and better at what we do. Thank you!
I visited a loved one at Woodland Palms almost daily for the past three years or so, until her death. Within that time, I have seen many workers come and go; some good and some bad. It seems like most of the bad ones stay and the good ones leave or are let go. The food was not all that good and the portion sizes were very small. There were many unprofessional care givers that were too busy being on their phones or listening to music with their headphones on. I have witnessed upper management speaking to other staff disrespectfully and unprofessionally. I have even encountered staff talking badly about residents and some of the stuff said came from upper management. The daily activities were pretty good. They offered a wide variety of activities, ranging from exercise groups, board games, social parties, church services, pet therapies and entertainment. The entertainment provided was excellent and well done. I cannot remember the Activity director's name, but he was always pleasant and did a great job engaging residents to have fun that wanted to participate. He even gave me updates on how my mother was doing. I believe his name was [name removed] or [name removed]. My memory isn't so good. After he left, Activities declined and went down hill. [Name removed] and [name removed] were very nice and always very pleasant. They greeted me with smiles and always asked if there was anything they could do for me. Most other care givers were not as nice. The monthly themed parties were pretty amazing and the food provided was good. The place is very dirty and dingy and suffers from lack of good upper management.

May 9, 2019Dear Jimmy, We are currently under new management and taking all reviews seriously. We are always learning and working together to ensure our residents are given the best possible care. Thank you for taking the time to write this review!
My loved one was here but we removed them from this place. I got them out after certain things couldn't be overlooked any longer. First off this place is very understaffed. They don't watch the residents here. This isn't a safe place - a lady was by herself outside and she fell and hit her head. The residents are NOT fastened in their wheelchairs and I was told they couldn't do that - they have a "right to fall". I was stunned by that answer.

I looked at this community for my loved one, but I did not care for it. It looked very nice on the outside, but it was very old and outdated on the inside. I just did not feel it was a place I wanted my loved one to be.

I was not impressed at all with my tour of this community and would never put my mother in a place like this one. As soon as I walked in I could not believe how run down and dirty it was. I truly would compare it to a dump in my opinion. When I was walking around I noticed a man hanging half out of bed needing help and nobody was there to tend to his needs. It was very sad and depressing and I would never recommend it to anyone. Overall awful experience and they need to clean that place up.

My mother has been at WP for almost a year. Everyone is like a big family. Mom is always a needy person and they jump right in to keep her happy. I visit almost every day at all hours they are always gracious and on top of their game. I placed my husband who had dementia there shortly after my mother. The staff was very patient and kind to him. I felt I had pleasant memories of his stay there after he passed away.
