They have activities, but they are all in the indepedent living area, which is too far for the residents acess. You get what you pay for, and it's inexpensive. The dinner is late, and often cold when it gets to the residents. There has been times when the medication has been late, or my loved one has not recieved it. They are extremely short staffed. Be sure to get things in writing, if they tell you something verbally.

We picked this community because of the cost. They are very friendly. Improvement would be in food and cleanliness.

I toured this facility and it was ok, but definitely needs updated. The facility is not wheelchair friendly, which is a must for us, so we continued our search. If that's not a need for you or your loved one, I would say I recommend it as an option.
We chose Windsor Estates because they were able to afford it. Mom has a wound on her leg and a lot of other places would not take her but they were willing to care for it here. We also wanted dad in the same facility that mom was in and they had memory care here which is what he needed. Overall we would recommend the facility to others looking for assisted living or memory care - both sides seem to be good.

The tour was great and a very positive experience. It was a good atmosphere. This was just not a good fit for my loved one.
To say the care here is substandard is an understatement. In the almost two weeks my father was there, we only had one nurse that treated my father with kindness and respect. He was left for long periods w/o being checked on. He is a fall risk, & was often getting out of bed on his own because nobody would come when he pushed the help button. Twice I arrived in the morning to find him in the wheel chair after he attempted to go the bathroom on his own, and found him sitting in his own feces which were running down the back of his wheelchair! The staff were almost all very rude and lazy, seemed perturbed when I'd go to the nurses station looking for help (they don't come when you push the "emergency" light). Most times I would interrupt them watching a show on tv, it was ridiculous. We had a family member with him all day every day until he went to bed because we didn't feel comfortable leaving him. The conditions were so terrible that I am considering calling the local news station.

Response from Windsor Estates of St. Charles
August 26, 2021Thank you for providing your feedback and letting us know of your issue, Marie. We at Windsor Estates of St. Charles set a high standard for ourselves and are truly sorry to hear that standard did not appear to be met in your experience. A member from our leadership team will be in touch with you shortly. Sincerely, Windsor Estates of St. Charles
This is an older community, and has been remodeled in their 30 years of operation. The still have older appliances in the rooms. They have a military discount save me money for the overall expense each month. This community has independent living, assisted living, and memory care options. It is decent, and I have a two bedroom and one bathroom. We have cleaning each week, that includes changing the sheets and laundering them. They have Wii bowling, bingo, and several other activities. the activity score is based prior to COVID. The community is starting to open back up.

My Mother fell last fall and needed a skilled nursing facility for rehabilitation. We were referred to Windsor by the hospital social worker and after touring made the decision for her to go there. The therapy team was awesome and they got Mom back to her old self in no time. After the fall, we realized Mom was not safe by herself anymore at home alone. We toured the assisted living area of Windsor before Mom's discharge from therapy and made the decision to move her into her apartment. The choice was easy, the apartment is very affordable, we already knew the staff and with open arms they have cared for Mom like she is their own family ever since. Since moving into her apartment the therapy staff and nurses who cared for in skilled nursing still check in on her, this is very comforting knowing that Mom is in a place that she is so well cared for.

Our grandma was in skilled nursing, lots of bad communication between social worker and staff. Nurses do not respond on urgency for patients that are very ill. If you have love one that you think needs more personnel care don't use this facility. Laundry facility on premise lost a lot of her belongings too. When trying to talk to or get info.from office personnel, they don't return calls efficiently. Aides are very slow, and not present for help. Have to always go get someone when need help with patient or any question.

My Mother has lived in the assisted living here for almost two years. The care is not good. The apartments are not cleaned well (especially the bathroom), trash has been overflowing, medications have been mixed up, call button is hit and miss, sometimes she only gets one shower a week, her laundry is mixed up with others resulting in lost clothing, the staff don't seem to stay long even the head nurse , doctor and directors have changed often. We are moving my mother as soon as we can. We are a family who visits almost every day. I wonder how those who don't have family checking in daily are treated? Please don't place your loved one here. We regret that we did.

[removed] MY poor Grandmother is not being respected in this "pretty on the outside", renovated Facility. My dear, very elderly Grandma has fallen on several occasions in her "assisted" living apartment. She wears a call button around her neck. But guess what?! When she pushed it... the battery was dead! My precious grandma lay there for who knows how long until someone happened by!! Grandmas trash cans are constantly left to overflow, the apartment is not cleaned thoroughly and sometimes not at all! What REALLY makes me MAD is that I was informed today by a local family member that she has NOT HAD A BATH in a WEEK! I believe the animal shelter down the street takes better care of their furry residents ! This CANNOT continue! She lovingly cared for us in our growing up years and she gets this in return! We need a thorough investigation of this place. I will be contacting a local tv station TODAY to get the word out about the incompetence of this place!

My brother went to the tour with my dad and they had a good tour. The staff were ready and very helpful and friendly to them. This was not the right place because they did not have a big enough pathway to walk through.

There was a strong odor in the community when you walk in. It has to do a lot with their older carpets they need to put new carpets. I would not recommend a tour of this place. The tour guide was nice and showed me the bedrooms that had a good space to them and the dinning room that was fairly organized. I liked the layout of it but i didn't feel this was the right place for my loved one.

This community is farther away than the community we chose. The buildings seemed hard to navigate. In my opinion I think this would be better for more independent residents. There did not seem to be a lot of interaction between the residents and staff.

So everything is working out pretty well for my father here at this community. It is a nice and clean community. The staff is kind and friendly. They are willing to work with us to find a care plan that fits his level of care he needs. It is a work in progress.

This is not a ritzy community but it it offers a comfortable feel to it. My Father in law is currently on a special diet and he enjoys the food. The community seems pretty clean and the building is well maintained. They offer 2 activities a day and since he is not currently participating they make sure gets out of his room and goes for walks in a lockdown outside area.
