White Cliffe Terrace Retirement Residence

My Aunt has been at White Cliffe now for over 2 years and considers White Cliffe Home. The staff has been exceptional through Covid in taking care of her having in place proceedures to keep the seniors from getting Covid. Thank all the staff,nurses and managerment for your commitment.

So this is what it takes! Management engaged in criminal behaviour by locking covid patients in their rooms !!! Family members of residents have been complaining about this place for years but to no avail. Management, owners and A Place for Mom are only interested in profit and do not listen to or act upon complaints. II can only hope that lawsuits are pending and that our weak provincial government will finally act.

Whitecliff is for profit . The assisted living floor is understaffed and not senior friendly. They promised something they do not deliver. I would not recommend this retirement home.

Really appreciated [name removed]’s extra time, concern and honesty. Truly, a community with care for your loved one in mind. Only downfall is location. Although you don’t hear the outside noise, the choices are sun and city view or north facing with ravine view. Still in my top 3 choices for mom.

This place is awesome! It has given my Mother a new lease on life. There’s always something fun to do. All the staff are very caring and considerate. The food is fantastic! I waited nine months before I wrote a review, just to be sure it was as great a place as it seemed when she first moved there.

I can't believe this place is getting good reviews. People are leaving by the droves. Staff/resident ratio is very poor and while pleasant and caring there is no way workers on this floor can provide the care that is promised/required. Family members formed a committee to address concerns but manager refused to meet with us. Residents cannot take part in regular meetings to voice concerns nor can their family members. Food is poor cafeteria quality, too salty, delivered late (residents sit silently in dining area for up to 40 minutes), knives provided can't cut through the meat and staff does not assist those who require it; desserts and snacks are store bought (No Frllls quality), full of sugar, and they often run out. Residents are then served canned fruit. Rooms are tiny with no shelving, hooks or other amenities (fridge sink etc). Residents wander the halls or sit in silence near the elevator. A large kitchen is not used and family members are barred from it (even to use microwave!) Front desk staff (first floor) make no eye contact, socialization is not encouraged and entire facility feels like a depressed work environment. Complaints to owners were referred back to management. Just waiting for a place to come up so that we can get loved one out of there. Hesitant to sign this due to fear of repercussions.

Staff are wonderful. Finding it very expensive to keep her there. She was reluctant to go in the first place but seems to have settled ok. Would hate to move her, hopefully costs will be kept down in spite of improvements.

Overall this is a very good place. The food is good. The apartments are nice. Lots of amenities. Except for one nurse the staff are wonderful.
