Our loved one is well taken care of at the community. She has told us she likes the food. She is a bit down because she has lost a friendly that she chummed with there, but basically she likes it there overall.

The overall facility is very nice in appearance the front desk workers are typically very friendly . the maintainence team manager eric, seems he will go above and beyond for the residents on most occasions. The The food is not good at all it's actually quite terrible most of the time. For dinner they often offer small sandwiches such as ham, extremely SMALL PORTIONS, and the food is often unsatisfying at best is terrible, an average to "5-7 days" a week. Sometimes it's is not too bad But those times are few and far between. Is has often been reported to me that More then several of the residents have became physically ill after eating the food there on "more times then they can remember", a total of 8 residents verbally agreed to this statement and wanted something to be done about it. Some refuse to eat most meals, one said "the hot meals are the ones that do you in" the residents are afraid they will be punished be management if they say anything. They do not not know what to do.

Thanks to A Place for Mom, we found out about Whaler’s Cove and we recently moved a family member into one of their spacious studio apartments. She is very happy and so are we. The staff is professional and very caring. Moving there was the right decision for our family. The food is excellent and the dining room is very clean and organized.

We visited this community years ago when we first started this process and we were very impressed. We toured it again just recently before moving our loved one in and they did a great job renovating some of the structures, it is a real nice looking community and we were still very impressed. Even though our loved one does not always participate in the activities, they have plenty to offer.

The only good thing about this place is the CNAs. The executive director is not a pleasure to associate with and is fake. The staff are afraid of her and from what we have heard she threatens the staff. The question is why do they stay. The answer is because they care about the residents and my mother is glad for that. We are planning on moving mom very soon.

I would not recommend whalers cove to my worst enemy. My mom complained numerous times about not getting her pain meds in a timely fashion. After she passed I scheduled salvation army to pick up items at her place. I made arrangements with Maureen the women in charge to let them in the apartment days ahead of time. Then the day of pickup they would not let salvation army into the apartment to remove items. Even when I was on the phone giving verbal permission. Whalers cove response was it was miscommunication and hopefully I can reschedule and still have everything out by the end of the month since my mom passed away. Very poorly run and I am not scrambling to make moving arrangements again. They can remove the items themselves and if they try to bill me they will get nothing. Very poorly run. And I also contacted them twice to get a removal fee for two items that were to old to be donated and after two weeks they still didn't get back to me. Please do not send loved ones to Whalers cove.

Very nice facility. High marks for [Removed], Asst. Executive Director, who met with us and gave us the tour. Services are very extensive. Good start to our researching the options.

Whalers cove is the worst place anyone could put there mom or dad in. The food is horrible they are always running out of something. The cna's there are just awful. The main boss is just a diagrace to the place. Its such a beautiful building but the way that lady runs whalers cove they will never have any help or residents. Dont move anyone you know into here!

Thanks to the Whaler's Cove staff to making the decision to join their community an easy one. From day 1, my Dad was welcomed and had everything done to make his transition as simple as possible. They did everything to make him feel right at home...it was like getting a brand new family! I could not have done everything without them! Thank you for being the angels taking care and watching my Dad during the times I can't be with him. Thank you again!

Overall I'm very impressed by what I've seen of this place! It's a very nice looking facility, it's very spacious and well decorated, and they keep it very clean. The staff all seemed very friendly as well. The only real downside I saw is that they don't have any outdoor space available, and none is really available nearby since the facility is a converted commercial space. I'd love to see them turn some portion of a nearby parking lot into a small park!

Large living spaces (twice the size of all the others) Large interior common areas. No apparent outdoor area other than the street sidewalk. Dad and E liked this place and knew some of the folks.

A Place for Mom has scored Whaler's Cove 8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
