We had the privilege's of stay at Brookdale the skilled nursing care level. [Facility removed] assisted in securing a place for us at Brookdale Sakonnet Bay. As we are in our 80's staying at Brookdale made it much easier to spend time with our family member. [Facility removed] was so helpful in out planning of a surprise birthday party for [name removed] 88th birthday. This is a beautiful facility is outstanding staff. Staff especially [facility removed] was highly praised by current residents! Meal were will planned and tasty.

We found all of the staff at Brookdale Sakonnet Bay extremely helpful and caring. My dad moved in first and my mom moved in after finishing a rehab stint. Unfortunately, she passed after just being there for a very short time. The staff and other residents were very caring and supportive. Some staff even came to the visiting hours. The staff communicated with us about dad very well and genuinely cared about my dad. It is wonderful knowing that my dad has a supportive community during this difficult time, is fed well and his room is deep cleaned once a week. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone with an elder parent. There are now many new younger residents moving in, too.

I’ve lived here for 4 weeks and absolutely love everything about it !! The staff is very helpful and happy. They all are very accommodating to our needs and treat us all very special. I have a studio room and am amazed how in my room i still have lots of space, even after my queen bed and big dresser , plus a recliner and a queen Anne chair, plus a few other pieces of furniture are all in the room. There are many fun games, water aerobics in the pool, exercise classes and many fun games going on. Plus we have singing performers coming in to entertain us also. It is easy to make friends here. I would strongly suggest anyone to take a tour of this place if looking for Independent or Assisted Living situation.

The staff / facility is a really world class. I read some negative reviews of Brookdale as a corporation online but have nothing but good things to say. They were helpful, extremely accommodating to my mother's needs, and they were very accommodating and helpful when I needed to close our account. I couldn't recommend them enough, and I hope I can live in a place like Brookdale Sakonnet bay when I am a senior!

If the person has Alzheimer's and is ambulatory, that is not the place for them the $[removed] a month I paid. I also had people there from nine in the morning till nine at night and they would call me all times of the night if he got out of bed to come and watch him also, they only gave him finger foods because he could not eat by himself, even though I had people there, including myself for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The chef in the kitchen was wonderful, and I worked it out with her, but they would also just take a wet diaper off of him and put a dry one on the place was just horrible for the money I spent plus I was there 12 hours a day with other people for help that's the end of what I want to say about them it was very upsetting. They don't do anything they claimed they said they would do.
Response from Brookdale Sakonnet Bay
June 13, 2023We are sorry to hear we did not meet your expectations and we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. The health and well-being of our residents is our top priority and we have shared your concerns with our management team for review.
We toured Brookdale in Tiverton first and absolutely loved it, we were holding everything else to that standard from the beginning. It had the most draw, being the closest to where I live and so many nice amenities! But the people and nature preserve of another community was what gave it the edge over Brookdale. The fact that anchor bay accepts Medicaid was also a huge factor in our choice.
I'd like to thank the entire Brookdale community for their efforts supporting my mothers need. In particular [ Name Removed] has been our hero coming through every time we needed a little extra help! Thanks you!!!!
My Dad loves the heated swimming pool & morning water aerobics, 5 days/week. He's happy with the food and even happier that he sits with different people at different meals. A big bonus is that he has made friends with several widowers who are still with it & they have interesting conversations, unlike prior places where male friendship was harder to find. The location provides beautiful sunsets. There's a good sized population among the independent living units so there's more chance to find folks he enjoys. The staff is very helpful & accommodating of his interests, such as joining the local church choir & taking his daily bike rides around the campus, bringing the bike in & out on the elevator. He has settled in super well and seems genuinely interested in living there.

This was a very nice community. The people were very nice and the community was clean. This community was close to me but further from my other loved one. We wanted somewhere that would be halfway for us. Also they did not take medicaid and that was not something that we wanted because we would have had to transfer our loved one. The building seemed like it also may have been confusing for the residents to navigate through.
I only observed the skilled nursing section. I think the staff are nice but short staffed. The staff are quite busy. They could use more hands.

Our loved one is in the nursing unit, so I can't speak to the other levels of care. Know that you'll need a whole lot of money. We pay a high monthly housing fee, but then we also received several thousands of dollars in bills for additional care. They told us our loved one was a flight risk and required that we pay their outside contractor an hourly rate to supervise him. But that person wasn't even there when we would come to visit. We've only been able to have supervised visits in a designated space, so I can't say if they're changing him properly and things. His appearance is well maintained, but they're not putting his hearing aids or glasses on. That doesn't allow for a quality visit. When I brought it up, they brought his hearing aids and glasses to us in a box and didn't even put them in for him. When you do ask questions, it's a very limited response. You don't get a lot of answers. They've not provided any assistance in navigating veterans benefits and things of that nature, and it made me feel like once they get you in there, they just hit you with the bill and that's it.

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Sakonnet Bay 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
