My mother-in-law has been a resident at Westover Retirement since February 2022. She did 1 month of Respite Care. At that time, she made the decision that going to her own home was not something that she would be able to do. At first, she was struggling to make Westover her 'new' home. Since she has become an active part of the community. She plays chair volleyball, bingo and often attends and enjoys the musical guests. I can't think of any place (other than her own home) that she would be happier living.... Read more

My father is very happy living at Westover. They take great care of him and he enjoys the entertainment and various activities they provide for the residents. It gives me comfort knowing that he is in a safe and caring environment. The staff truly looks out for his best interest.

I love Avita of Wells! All the staff are very friendly and happy and make staying at Avita enjoyable for their residents. Every day is packed with activities for wellness and spirituality, physical fitness, social, and sensory and memory enhancement. The food is locally sourced and the residents have a choice of soup or salad, and 2 entrees for every meal. They have weekly excursions to the ocean and local restaurants. The residents convinced me that my mom would love it at Avita and they were right!

I feel this place is NOT a safe place for our loved ones due to one of the doors being left unlocked around the clock. I was told that there was someone at the desk at all times to keep an eye on who came and went thru that door. This was a lie that door was unlocked and no one at the desk to observe things. This was very disturbing to me. Take this for what it is worth to you.

The care was very poor. Having to wait 30 minutes to go to restroom is uncalled for. Also their people that do baths tend to pass the buck to someone else which results in not getting bath on scheduled day. Sheets don't get changed I personally stripped the bed two or three times so they would have to put on fresh sheets. My loved one pushed button to go to restroom and when they finally came they said you have a pullup on so in other words go ahead and pee your pants, My loved one still knows when they need to go to the restroom so they should be taken when they push their button . My loved one was not supposed to be left alone in restroom but they were left alone . There's more but I will stop with these few complaints . I will not be taking my loved one back there. This facility has a REALLY GOOD physical and occupational therapy department. They were very nice and did their jobs with good results. Thanks to them for their kindness.

A few years back this was THE PLACE for your loved one to recover. Now I believe there is lack of leadership, not enough motivated staff, poor quality of care, and general technologies that malfunction (pendent call light buttons that have batteries in them that no one checks to see if they are still functioning and horrible WIFi reception) to name a few. The call light for my family member routinely took more than 30 minutes to answer. The PT is great ! The OT, due to one therapist that talks more than works and seems to lack motivation also made this therapy very upsetting. The nurses are usually unable to answer any questions that are asked of them and one of them was down right intimidating to my family member and they were truly afraid of this nurse. Dining services was awesome! Friendly and a breath of fresh air.

The Westover was an older place but had a lot of amenities. They had a pool and a lot of things going on, but not much of what my father would use. The place was nice and so were the people, it was just not what we were looking for.

A Place for Mom has scored Westover Retirement Community 8.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
