My wife and I are now living for close to 2 years at Bentley Village and fully enjoy our life in this community. The beautiful landscaping, the comfortable apartments, the many sporting activities like golf, tennis and more, the friendliness and caring of the administration and staff, the variety of tasty foods served in modern and attractive club houses and the excellent care facilities make ever day enjoyable and pleasant. This all deserves the highest rating. But a recent event even surpassed this rating. During hurricane Irma, all residents were evacuated. Residents needing special care were transferred to other care places. Independent residents were evacuated by bus to luxury hotels in Orlando. Unfortunately, the hurricane caused more damage than initially anticipated and an early evacuation plan of a few days stretched to 3-5 weeks for some of the residents. During this time, we as independent residents were housed in superior hotel rooms, had three fine meals per day, were provided with places to play cards, were shown a movie twice a day and were provided with bus services to shopping centers, malls and pharmacies on a daily basis. In the meantime all damaged apartments were repaired, freezers inspected and stocked with some essential foods at our return. And all this occurred in such a smooth way as to least inconvenience the residents but make their stay and return as comfortable as possible. The administration and staff did an outstanding job and made a very difficult situation very pleasant and comfortable for the residents. Thank you!!... Read more

Independent living amenities and restaurants are wonderful. Hope that you don’t have to spend your final days in the Care Center because your wishes will Probably not be honored, even if documents have been filed. A doctor never showed up to assess our mother’s condition as she lay gasping her final breaths, hospice was not called, even though we had made arrangements through [removed], the hospice center recommended by Bentley’s social worker, and a total lack of compassion was shown.

My parents moved in in 2006, so I have more experience than other reviewers. They lived in a gorgeous independent living apartment (Dad died in 2007, Mom lived independently until 2013), played golf regularly, played bridge, went to programs on campus, took trips to see the Rockettes in Ft. Meyers, and are surrounded by friends. When the time came to move Mom into Assisted Living, the staff was helpful and professional. She was unhappy to downsize to a small one-bedroom, but the care and services provided in AL have been a life saver. When she needed PT after a fall, it was provided at the Care Center. When she became ill after Christmas last year, she spent two weeks in the Care Center where we were called daily and participated in weekly care conferences. The Care Center rooms are certainly more Spartan for temporary residents, and Mom's could have used a coat of paint, but it is the nicest skilled nursing facility I've seen in my 40 years as an RN. The grounds are beautiful, a new West clubhouse has been built with spectacular pools and a second East Clubhouse is almost finished as of this writing. New apartment buildings are almost completed and connect with walkways to the clubhouse. The dining rooms in all the facilities are lovely and the food is excellent. The food even in AL is chef-prepared and served by professional waitstaff. There is a Parking area designated across from the dining room where staff will whisk the residents' walkers away and promptly return them when they finish their meal. AL is like a cruise ship at dock: there are always group activities happening in the lounge or the rec room, from charades and Twenty Questions to singers and visits from trained dogs. Mom still plays bridge three times a week, they take her to all her outside doctor's appointments, and she is happy and doing well. The best thing is the medical director visits AL residents who need to see him on-site every Wednesday, so you can always get an appointment. Over all these years we have gotten to know the staff really, really well as we visit almost monthly. I know I can always call the nurses on Mom's floor or the AL director to catch up on how Mom's doing, something very important to us living up in Minnesota! Rather than worry about how long it takes for the tram to arrive or the dining room hours, I recommend focusing on the luxury and convenience and the skilled later life care of this continuum-of-care community. We feel lucky our parents have had such a wonderful place to live out their days.

Recently completed a stay at the Care Center after knee replacement. The medical, nursing and rehabilitation services were all top flight.

The skilled nursing area is horrible. They cannot ever correct a problem brought to their attention because they refuse to EVER admit that they have made a mistake. [removed] Do not go here, or admit a loved one if you care about them.

A great place. The sales people will tell you what's good. Here is a couple of heads-ups for prospective residents based on my parent's first 3 months. When you schedule a visit make sure they also schedule the medical interview for you or you'll have to make a second trip. If you live out of town that's a big deal. The dining room closes at 4:00 on Sundays. The golf cart shuttles travel in one direction. if you're in the wrong part of the loop it could take a while to get to the dining hall.
