Nursing, therapy, social work and the concierge were all fantastic - I would recommend coming here.

I was treated very well here - there are some great people working here. Social workers were great, concierge brightened my day.

Nursing was great. Therapy department was a great bunch! The concierge team was always great tome. I would absolutely recommend Van Duyn Center!

I dont really know where to begin with my grandmothers stay at this "facility"... In my opinion it was the worst place I have ever been to in my life. When I drove up for the first time, I said to myself " am I in the right place? this looks like something out of a horror movie" and then as I walked inside and up to her floor, things got even scarier. The lobby is nice, which is all the internet shows you pictures of. They dont show the awful run down rooms, that havent been updated since they opened I'm sure. They dont show the holes in the walls, the dirt and scum all over the floors. The stains of who knows what, it appeared to be feces on the curtains and walls. Nobody talks about the awful smell, or the bathroom that smells like cat urine. Or the fact that there is no shower or facility for people to bathe/ or be bathed. The staff is nice, sure but you get the same treatment at the drive through of Mcdonalds as you do from the "nurses" or "Aids" at Van Duyn. I feel that they hired anyone who applied, no matter if they had any medical background or not. She got there at 1:00 pm and by 3:00pm we were asking to get her out of there. We were told we had to wait for her to be evaluated by Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy and Occupational Therapy before she could leave...and that they dont work on weekends so we would have to wait until Monday. Never once saw Respirtatiory Therapy, and they dragged it out for 5 days before she could leave for no reason! If she didn't need Oxygen and nurses to come to her house we would have left by 3:00 the first day we got there. The place is just awful. She was held there for 5 nights and not once did she a doctor. They forgot her dinner 2 nights in a row, and breakfast another day ( not that you would want to eat the food there anyway!) When she did recieve meals, they didnt even have her last name correct on the slip of what the food is! Forgetting to feed her wasnt their only specialty. She was sent from St Joes with a detailed list of her medication, and they didnt give her 3 of her medications for the 5 days she was held there!! 2 of them were very important for her Heart!! My mom stayed there with her the entire time because she didnt feel comfortable leaving her there, I wouldnt even leave my goldfish in that facility alone. I feel terrible for the people who are in there that dont have anyone to stay with them and make sure they are taken care of. Quite frankly I'm not sure how this place has not been shut down yet... But whatever you do, DO NOT SEND ANYONE YOU KNOW HERE!!!

The Van Duyn Staff will make every available effort to crush whatever dignity and sanity your loved one has while serving horrendous food prepared and served by staff that does not give a crap about the mental well being of the residents. The website talks of therapeutic horticulture. How about treating residents with common decency and respect while listening to their concerns and helping them heal and grow stronger both mentally and physically. I would send my enemy there, though.

The Physical and Occupational Therapy were good. I feel so much better than when I arrived.

Th staff here never gave up on me, I had to relearn how to walk, talk, and eat and they were there for me. I had two different nurses named [name removed] that made my stay more comfortable. The day shift staff I had on my floor, each of them made my stay better.

Every day that I was here for the past 3 years has been a blessing. I love and will miss all the staff members here at Van Duyn.

Disappointed with this place. Had an aunt there, I would visit her every other day. The place was not very clean and the employees were not very attentive to the elderly needs. Also had to go to the business office on more than one occasion, and found an employee on the computer playing games or on social media.... She too unattentive to customers needs. Wasn't the worst place but don't think I'd recommend it!!

this place is awful went to have transport pick her up told me she looked horrible food all over her no foot rest called physical therapy no one calls back.

Terrible place. Lack of communication, dirty. I feel sorry for the people there that actually care. Very few and far between.

Physical therapy is excellent here, I love it! My social worker was very good and this facility is clean.

My physical and occupational therapy was real good, hopefully because of their help I can stay home! One of my CNAs, [name removed] made my stay more comfortable. I really enjoyed the Happy Hour that the Recreation department puts on.

Very compassionate

Van Duyn is making great strides in making someone's stay there a positive experience. Renovated areas are attractive and inviting, a departure from the typical sterile settings one often finds in such a facility. More importantly, I encountered friendly staff during my visit.

Some of the staff are really great- they truly care about the patients. On the other hand, some are absolutely awful - they speak rudely at patients. It seems that the new administration is trying to improve conditions and they listen to patients’ families complaints and concerns.

The nursing staff was very good, the doctor was good and the food was good. My social worker was very nice and so was the concierge.

At first I could have given this place a rating below 1 but I see the improvements and I can see they are trying to improve the food. The nurses are good and the doctor made me feel comfortable. Their therapy program is very, very good.

It was very nice here! The nurses were great and I thought the food was good. I loved therapy!

My family would recommend Van Duyn even though my mother didn't participate in the activities. There are many things to do for the residents. We felt the therapy was good overall. The nursing staff were really nice, something amazing. The therapy department was great too.
